Default Firing only happens when they're not playing

Based on this, perhaps one could take the view that SnL essentially fired Christine from Fleetwood Mac, back in 2002 or whenever.

They loved and respected her, but the reality was that ever since they forwent Buckingham Nicks to join Fleetwood Mac, they'd been sharing the stage and the album space with another singer/songwriter.

When CM quit touring during The Dance, and refused to do any hypothetical touring for SYW, SnL used that as an excuse to boot her off the record and, thus, the band. Even though Lindsey had been on (aka made) the TITN album but not toured it, and Christine had previously been on Time but not toured it.

Just one theory/perspective.
