I know a lot of it may really just be her "stage persona," but I really do feel that she has a "southern belle" side to her personality, and this house reflects that. On the other hand, I
strongly suspect that this is actually the house that her Dad bought for her shortly before he died. Maybe she was actually speaking metaphorically when she said that there's ghosts there.
