I thought he was done with treatment but was just waiting for surgery. The problem is, we don't have enough to form an informed opinion on this. All we can do is speculate. Hell, we don't even know the nature of John's cancer or surgery.
I just wonder what stage of production there in. If it's the preproduction stage, where they go into a studio and work out songs, then yeah, I agree McVie might not be there. But if it's the actual production, then I'm sure he will be there.
