I think she actually liked Vanessa's music and respected Vanessa who is a musician and not an entertainer vocalist. That's why I think they are close.
Vanessa opened Stevie's Gold Dust Tour. That was not a hot ticket tour. I was in an empty venue so Vanessa as opening act likely didn't help sales.
