I agree completely, especially if the item has no bids. You're only encouraging people to bid up the item. I email myself a link, with the ending time as the subject.
Even though I'll be on vacation, I just sent myself a "Friday, 9PM" email, to place a last minute bid, on a vintage western shirt I want. I am a sniper...that's how I roll. (yeah, I'm cheap, too)
