Even if it's just Lindsey and Christine, the fact that they're working on it will keep their interest in having it released peaked. If it's just on a shelf in moth balls, even they will lose interest in it soon enough.
If they finish the songs and feel the spark again, then maybe they'll also be motivated to get the music out one way or another. Revisiting it will give them an opportunity to get excited again, even if we don't have anything to get excited about yet.
