Well, I agree with you about the radio. As for a record store, I know they're around, but I'd have to do an internet search to find nearby ones, because I can't think of any offhand. Of course, that's not counting Target and Best Buy.
When I moved to California, in the Valley Tower had a large record store on one side of the street and an annex on the other.
