Because of where the focus needs to be
right now. One doesn't talk about an album that
might get made, or even HAS been made
but not released, while promoting an album that's actually out. That's not fair to the label that has actually invested in the album
that is actually out right now.

I read that as after John got a cancer diagnosis. I think she expected John to get better and that they'd make up canceled dates, and that she had some time to do a solo album. I think Christine rejoining expedited her solo project (and probably the band's return).
