One of the paintings she described involves Rhiannon, a figure in Celtic myth and also, Tornatore pointed out, the topic of a
Stevie Nicks song. After reading that Nicks wrote the song because the name sounded interesting and then later learned about Rhiannon’s role in mythology, Tornatore found herself drawn to the figure too. She said, “The story is that she overcomes a lot of adversity and I identify with that.”
