DJ celebrates 30 years of broadcasting Beatles

When Ken Michaels started working as a disc jockey on a campus radio station in 1981, doing a Beatles show was an idea. Now, he keeps very busy not doing just one show, but two -- one live, the other pre-recorded and syndicated.

Digging Into George Harrison's Secret Stash

While Olivia Harrison was going through drawers recently at Friar Park, the mansion she shared with Beatles legend George Harrison, she found a digital picture frame, still new in its box. When it comes to vinyl records, it’s almost as much about a nostalgic experience as it is about the warm, crackling sound that emits from the record player.

Ringo Starr says taking producer's role on new album was 'so much fun'

Ringo Starr, in a new magazine interview, says the idea of self-producing his latest album “Ringo 2012” made him so nervous originally he phoned a friend to lend a hand, but later changed his mind and decided to produce it himself. The former Beatle tells writer Howie Edelson in the*latest issue of Beatlefan (#159),"I got a little insecure, and I actually did call Mike Bradford, the bass player. I called him up and said, 'Look, I’m doing this myself, maybe I’m gonna need some help. I’m still insecure. I’ve never produced before.' And then two weeks later I called him back and I said, 'Look, I know I said I need you, but I’m having so much fun. I’m just gonna do this myself.'”

Ringo Starr's first All-Starr Band was heavenly to see and hear

They were the first ones out of the gate, but as time goes by, it's becoming increasingly clear that the first version of Ringo Starr's All-Starr Band from 1989, which included Levon Helm, who died today, was one hell of a super group. There was Joe Walsh from the Eagles, now Ringo's brother-in-law, on guitar. Billy Preston, the only outside musician ever to get credit on a Beatles record, played keyboards. The legendary Dr. John also played keyboards.
