Was the On with the Show Tour a fitting farewell?
Was the On with the Show Tour a fitting farewell? I saw them in Sydney and they were fantastic. The only thing missing was new music.
What they are doing now is not a fitting farewell. It is still something I want to see and experience but it is not a farewell. |

If this was a true and proper farewell, I would expect a lot more hype. Seems like this tour is just getting swept under the rug |
This band has ZERO credibility left in terms of what they say vs what they do. Nobody is going to declare the current tour as a final farewell because I'm sure Mick is thinking in the back of his mind there could be yet ANOTHER "reunion" pay day.
The whole thing will probably pan out to be a giant misfire. The current tour was not a runaway success and they've all crapped on Lindsey to the point where he very well might not ever agree to play with them again. So yes, the OWTS tour could very well be the last tour of all 5. My eyes are on Christine. I'm curious if she backs away from the band once the tour wraps up this summer and "contractual obligations" are complete. |
For me, BuckVie was the perfect swan song.
I mean, it would have been nice if Dick and John had toured for the album, but I'm glad they were the final shows for me. That bitter old hag ruined everything. |

Well, all five of them were there. I guess it was "fitting" in that respect. It was the last tour of the version of the band I loved, so it was their "farewell tour" in that sense, and I'll take what I can get.
I'm just so thankful I got to see all five fireflies before it ended. |

As far as I'm concerned, OWTS *was* the farewell tour. |
It will have to be for that incarnation of Fleetwood Mac.
If they had just enjoyed that moment for what it was and not talked about the future or recording something new, especially since Stevie didn’t sign on for a new album, it might have been a better ending. However, in light of subsequent events, it made for an uneasy, disjointed ending, which is about as Fleetwood Mac as they could get. |
The promise of new music is what kept me tuned in to OWTS. I even saw two shows to enjoy Christine’s return.
The new music that arrived from the core foursome was as close to satisfaction as any of us pushing for a studio reunion is likely to get. Who knows what will happen, but I’m not optimistic—and as a live act they’re passé avec or sans Buckingham. |
In answer to the question -Yes!
I'm sure that some of us thought 'The Dance' tour in 1997 would be the final tour, so OWTS was a real bonus. I will always treasure the three shows I saw on OWTS: I remember thinking at the time , " This is it - I won't see THIS band ever again"...….what a lovely way to go out...... |
I'm going to have to say the Dance was their farewell tour. OWTS should have been called On With the Same Old Same Old with Less Vibrancy Than Before. The Dance was the last tour to give us new material from each of the 3 songwriters. I'm gonna say 1997 was the last very great year for the five fireflies. They just didn't know to call it an end way back then.

It was amazing to have the 5 back together for one final tour - obviously we all hoped it would lead on to more....

It was a great and exciting tour but not a fitting farewell. It was billed as the return of the Rumours 5, not as a final run. Had I known it was their swan song, I would have gone to more than one show and I certainly would have gone to the final performance.
The band has taken away the opportunity for fans to say goodbye and have closure. I find this extremely disappointing. |
I saw them in Leeds, and if I had realised (as is most likely) that it was the
last tour...The last concert I should ever see with all five of them. Then I would have soaked it in more, appreciated them more , shed a few tears at the finale and encore. But I didn’t as I never thought it was their final final tour.. Do I think it was their last tour now....yes ’fraid so.. |
