Richard Dashut

A public post on Richard Dashut's FB page from about a month ago- so gracious and sweet towards the band, especially Stevie and Lindsey.

"As I finish watching the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame show, I am reminded how proud I am to have served. To have served such a great band like Fleetwood Mac and the fans that supported us for all these years. Thank you all for a life that is more than I deserve and the respect you give me. But most of all, thank you Lindsey Buckingham for being my friend and teaching me the talent to have made a contribution to the craft I love. And to Stevie, who's spirit in my early life left me with the will to succeed and believe in my self. To the rest of the band, thank you for letting me share a space with you in musical eternity. I hope I am deserving of such an honor, I will try to live up to it, however long I shall have.....r"

Well, nice, heartfelt words...I hope they are not said with sadness and melancholy. I do hope he's alright.
Thank you so much for your contribution to all that great music Richard.

Amen to that!

So what precipitated all of this? It doesn't seem like he's just waxing poetic after watching the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame inductions...

...or he has a terminal illness! I hope he is just "waxing" and not dying.

I hope he just had a good night and sank a few cold ones.... beer typing.
However, do I recall reading he had been ill in recent years?

Did Richard have a falling out with Lindsey at some point? I recall they lived at Lindsey's house for many years, but after Tango and Out of The Cradle there seemed to be no mention of him.

Would love to have seen him involved with the new album, he and Lindsey were great together as co-producers.

Hope he is well, seemed like a lovely guy whenever have seen him interviewed.

I think a year or two ago he came out that he was employed by Lindsey but not being paid for a long time or something. Maybe that was rectified? I hate to say it but it was kind of good because I found he gushed TOO much about LB before that.

nope. Richard Dashut didn't say that.

(i do believe it was Ken Caillat who did, at the time when he was also talking about FM and Judy Wong's teeth.)

Richard still seems to have only nice things to say about LB, judging from that quote that started the thread.

Ken C. seems bitter in an obvious way; I take whatever he says through that filter.

Probably just finshed off a bottle of chardony.

I sent Ken a Facebook message a few weeks back asking how Richard was doing. I got a reply back this evening. He says Richard's health is just fine and that he's been living in Las Vegas. He also said he hopes to work with him again soon. :)

Thats very good news. many thanks for the update.
...he hopes to work with him again soon. Hmmmm, interesting. I wonder if there's anything specific on the cards or whether its just one of those things people say.

It would be wonderful, with Christine McVie stepping back into the fold, to bring the entire "Rumours" team back together to produce the new record. Lindsey Buckingham, Richard Dashut and Ken Caillat as a production team on the new record would be interesting. Too bad we can't get The Record Plant is Sausalito.
