It Takes time

I´m sure many of my fellow greenophiles have heard the great brunning sunflower it takes time featuring Mr Peter Green.
Does anybody have any more info on this great track, its currently my fav song, i´m really enamoured with it!Also I have to thank Mr doodyhead who first of all introduced me to brunning sunflower recordings.

Does anybody know the lyrics to the track and any history, i done a little research and saw that it was a otis rush song i believe.
Wwould love to know what everyone else thinks of it.

:)

Ah you see! A year ago when I asked, you hadn't heard of Brunning Sunflower & De Luxe Blues Band and now look! :)

The Otis Rush Lyrics are apparently:

In time, baby, I'll get you off my mind
little by little watch my love slow down
oh yeah, you know what it means to be alone
today you're laughin' pretty baby - tomorrow you could be cryin'

You live for the day you leave tomorrow on its own
we got a little child - should try to make it a home
but oh yeah, you know what it means to be alone
today you're laughin' pretty baby - tomorrow you could be cryin'

There's an old sayin' every dog has its day
good dog's a winner bad fades away
oh yeah, you know what it means to be alone
today you're laughin' pretty baby but later you'll know what it means to be alone.

Either Peter doesn't keep exactly to those lyrics or there are different versions. I think the Splinter Group version and the version I have by Coco Montoya also vary. I don't have it by Otis Rush.

As far as I know it was released by Otis in 1958 on a single as the B side (?) to Checking On My Baby. I'm not sure if he wrote it though...

One of the best songs off Trackside Blues... :)

Yes, Otis Rush did write "It Takes Time". I like the Fleetwood Mac version from the January 1970 show at the Warehouse in New Orleans quite a bit.

For me the Warehouse version is the best I've heard, including Otis's original. Unfortunately the sound quality is poor, the vocals are low, but Peter's playing is stunning.

Try Oerebro, Sweden, Nov 6, -69. Peter's playing and singing is simply stunning!

When Otis Rush's carreer was downhill

Nick Gravineties and Michael Bloomfield produced a comeback album for him called
Mourning in the morning which has a revised chart on it

At the same time the above mentioned duo recorded it "live at the fillmore west"

a great cut

peter heard this while in SF and added it to his setlist

It's just that I miss the introlicks Otis Rush starts the song with. Heven't heard Peter do it, regardless which version.
The sound quality of my Warehouse version is really good. Örebrö sucks however.....
I'm in for a trade:nod:
