Christine McVie Video Album

I am considering buying this (It's from 1984). Could anyone give their opinion on it? I have seen other archived threads here with people saying it's 'boring', aside from the Love Will Show Us How and Got a Hold On Me videos. Of course, I really like Christine or I wouldn't be here posting! I'd just like more info about it. I had never seen it on anything but Laserdisc since I became a fan (in 1987). I have found VHS to buy. Another question, has anyone been able to transfer their VHS to a DVD? I have a DVD recorder, but some things won't transfer. (Tango in the Night VHS will, at least the copy I have).

It's not boring... for me.. I saw the tour and the tour was much more explosive than the video.. The band was super crisp when I saw them... World Turning on this video is pretty amazing..

What songs are included?

I've not pulled this out for some time....isn't World Turning the one, where Mick's TRYING to lead the band into a jam or something, but it's not working! He has a pissed/panic look on his face, for at least a minute.

Maybe I'm the only one who picked up on it......

I have this deep in my storage vault...somewhere. Probably ruined.
Anyway,
I'm pretty sure it contains all of her songs off her 1984 album, plus some of her FM songs.
For the two singles off the solo album, Love Will Show Us How and Got A Hold On Me are the music videos, not live performances. Back when I had this, I only really watched the music videos, cause Love Will Show Us How is funnier than all get out. The actual live concert looks very intimate, but it is a bit dull and bland in all honesty.

ON EDIT:
*The Video Album:
On December 16, 1983, Christine McVie's "Video Album" was filmed at the Country Club in Reseda, California. The setlist for the video was:

1. Love Will Show Us How (music video)
2. Keeping Secrets
3. The Challenge
4. Who's Dreaming This Dream
5. I'm The One
6. So Excited
7. Got A Hold On Me (music video)
8. One In A Million
9. You Make Loving Fun
10.Don't Stop
11.World Turning
12.Songbird
13. Say You Love Me
14. Over My Head

Christine does a killer version of Kate Bush's LEAVE IT OPEN on this concert video.

It has to be seen to be believed!

Thanks so much everyone for the info. It sounds like something I should get!

Street_Dreamer 01-09-2010 02:36 PM

Seeing as it's the only live recorded concert of Christine's 1984 solo tour, it is a definite must have.

Huh? Are you playing around? Or did she really cover this?

I have the VHS tape of The Video Album. I have a DVD Recorder/VCR combo. It said in the user guide that you couldn't transfer commercially released VCR tapes to DVD. I tried it anyway, and it worked just fine. I was able to transfer both The Video Album & the FM Mirage tape to DVD. They both are of great quality on DVD. I think these tapes were released so long ago that they didn't have copyright protection which would have prevented me from transferring them. If you get the videotape, you should have no problem transferring it to DVD.

The only thing I don't like about this tape is that they don't show Christine enough. Of course I want to see the band members, but in this case, Christine is the star and she should be on screen more.

It's kind of like watching a Fleetwood Mac video, where the camera is focusing in on Stevie even during Christine's songs.

But this is a criticism of the directing, not the performance.

You always could. It's just that they don't want you to so they try to convince you that it won't work.

I couldn't agree more. I really like the show and the music is great, but Christine should have been the focus and is not. Well, it's still a great live-video.

PS: Leave it open???????????????
That must be the last song I can imagine Christine doing a cover of. Not even Kate knows what this is about.

Thanks for letting me know. You never know which tapes will work. I have movies/concerts from the 80s and about half can be transferred, the other half made my DVD recorder put up the message 'Copyright protection, cannot record'.
