Slabo Day

I have a question for those in the know:-
I have two versions of Slabo Day.
The first is from PG’s 'In The Skies' and is credited with Snowy White playing the lead and PG playing rhythm
The second, which I guess was recorded at the same time is on a Snowy White album ‘Goldtop’. Right at the beginning of this version, a voice can be heard saying ‘I’ll take it this time’. I am 99% sure that the voice is Peter Green, also the playing seems to have much more depth…

My question! Is Peter playing the lead on this version….? I would love to know.

Just been playing Peter Bardens album ‘The Answer’ after not having listened to it for many years.... Oh Man… just listen to ‘Don’t Goof With a Spook’. Shades of Green Manalishi.

That should answer your question. Happy New Year! :)

Many thanks Sharksfan2000. I knew that I had read something about this, but could not remember where! I searched the forums for 'Slabo' but only got one hit, and that gave me nothing...

After listening again, I find cannot agree with the comments on the thread you quoted.

By comparing other recordings, I know the voice that says 'I’ll take it this time’ (with an East London accent) on the 'Goldtop' Slabo Day track is definately Peter. Why would he say that, and not take the lead? (Snowy came from Devon... and grew up on the Isle of Wight, totally different accent)
With the quality of playing on that track, I am convinced that this is Peter on lead.

Does anyone know what 'Slabo' is..... or 'means? The only definition I know of is listed here:-

Happy New Year to all...

Norton, I'm of the same opinion, as stated in the old thread.
This would however mean that Snowy couldn't differentiate between his and Greeny's playing when compiling the Goldtop cd, which seems strange.

Slabo Day and other late 70's PG tracks

http://a885.ac-images.myspacecdn.com...cd30841fc4.jpgMaybe this has come up before but when was "In the skies" recorded? before or after Peter's stay in LA? Also, what guitars did he use? Does anyone know of any recordings on which Peter used the Les Paul Standard Mick Fleetwood bought for him in 79?
Thanks
