The "Do you like Juniper Poll"?

Q) Do you like the song "Flying Down Juniper"?

shackin'up 04-19-2008 04:03 PM

to be honest, I love it. I even rank it way above It Was You, Down On Rodeo and Castaway dreams. Like Under The Skin, It's made of glass.

Definitely the weak link on an otherwise stellar album.

I don't own a stereo anymore so I hardly ever listen to my actual cds, but "Flying Down Juniper" is the only UTS song that is not on my iPod.

I think it's a beautiful piece from start to finish. I love the way it moves.

Couldn't have said it better myself... although, It Was You and Down On Rodeo are at least halfway decent songs (cannot STAND Castaway Dreams).

Well Castaway Dreams is better than Juniper. Again it not one of my favourites but I would have it over Juniper any day

Miss Vicky 04-19-2008 05:23 PM

What's with the Castaway Dream hate?

I think it's the best song on the album by far.

xxxmx 04-19-2008 05:23 PM

least favorite song on the album

the first time i played the album from start to finish, my eyes just kind of scrunched up. really? it's like Family Man II, but an 80s acid jazz version minus the flutes. well, to me.

the album ends with SGCYM for me, and like missvicky, it's the only song not on the 'pod.

I think Juniper is awful, but then after Lindsey said that other people had told him that it was bad and Kristen thought it was the Love Boat song, at least I knew that he knew it was widely considered dreck and decided to go forwarded with it. I kind of respected that. So, I was content. Michele

Who talks about Hate? There are eleven songs on an incredibly good album. I only rank it with the least favorites. The fact that it's possibly my nr. 11, doesn't say I hate it. No. I love it. There are only ten songs on it that I love more.:shrug:

To continue with the nautical theme, Castaway Dreams has always reminded me (musically and lyrically) of the cloying jingles typically used for pleasure boat rentals, or cruises. Or, for that matter, romantic surf n' turf joints, and timeshares in the Berkshires/Cape Cod/Poconos, etc. I don't know how anyone can listen to this song with a straight face, and would be quite happy to never hear (of) it again. Really the only black spot on what's, a year and a half later, still a very enjoyable album.

That said, re: Juniper- I'm not sure if it would work as a solo acoustic song with just Lindsey and his guitar (to compare with the TFTS Youtube video)- the arrangement of the song as it is on the album suits it quite well.

This has been quite interesting and has given me an idea.
So Each day im gonna post a new poll based on the theme "Do you like (song name)"
Its good to see who likes what. Each song will be very random and from anyone of the four albums.

cool or what.

I love it. I've loved it since I first heard it and still love it now. If there were one song on UTS that I'd say was my least favorite it would probably still be Not Too Late.

michelej1 04-19-2008 08:34 PM

I don't dislike CAD, but I don't like it as much as some people do. I'm glad that it really seems to have captured some people, but I don't understand why. I consider CAD and It was You very hummable and fun to sing along with in concert, but that's about all I can see.

Now, when I heard Show You How, on the other hand, I thought, "Wow, if the rest of the album sounds even half that good, my heart will enlarge and burst." I played it so much before the album came out, that I risked burnout. I thought, madman out on a bad man's route, if that particular song had been the first I'd ever heard of Lindsey Buckingham's, I would have fallen in love with him all over again. The first 25 years wouldn't even have had to count.
