If you're reading storms, what do you think so far??
 

i have to admit that i wanted to buy and read the book. i'm not exactly sure why but i do. anyway, i got it last week and i'm up to ama award night.

i don't think it's a horribly written book but it's not great either. it's a bit too repetitive in that she's the hero and he's the needy, control freak.
i find the parts about the inner world of fleetwood mac very interesting. i was at a philly show and not being into drugs i wondered what lindsey was doing as he went to the back of the stage every once in awhile. i had binoculars on him and now i know for sure - coke.
i thought the part about him getting to meet eric clapton was interesting also.
it's hard to believe that no one in the band went to see him in the hospital in philadelphia for 4 days. that blows my mind. it makes me loose a little respect for all of them for not seeing how he was.
i also thought the part when carol was floored by the lyrics of 'i'm so afraid' interesting also. i, too, the very first time i heard the song said to myself, there's something going on with guy having written the song with those heartbreaking lyrics at such a young age.
i thought it was funny when she describes conversations with stevie as having entered the twilight zone. i've often thought that about some of her earlier interviews.

anyway, just wondering what you think of the book so far if you're reading it.

But I've read little bits and pieces and will read it probably before the month is over.

In a strange way, I think it will sort of validate my admiration for Lindsey. I was around in the 70s, certainly, but I was pretty young and not all that into their music. I really became a fan 10 years ago. And I think part of it came about through seeing just how far they had all grown from the people they were back then.

So, there may be more gory stories that will add to my portrait of Lindsey as a young guy, but having met the "older" version, and seeing for myself what a generous, kind, caring soul he is, is really all the proof I need that he got his act together and the past is the past.

I'm reading bits of it and I have to admit it is interesting. I think it's well written and very descriptive. And it sheds a whole new light on everyone in Fleetwood Mac, especially Lindsey, who always seems to be such an enigma.He comes off as an incredibly fascinating man who has a definite overpowering affect on the women in his life.

I kind of like this quote by Carol Ann about Lindsey when she met him: "This one was different. This one was unlike anything or anyone I'd ever seen before. This one had magnetism so intense that I felt a shock go through me the minute I saw him."

I just about lost my bagel when I read the part about CA talking about TITN. They have been broken up for three years already and LB was living with Cheri but CA is certain TITN, the song, is about her. :rolleyes: Um, no.

God knows that's probably the name of the chapter.

Are you serious?! That's nauseating. The lyrics couldn't possibly point to anyone in a way they'd recognise.... Ugh. :mad:

I've always thought John Boorman (Exorcist II, Excalibur, Point Blank, Catch Us If You Can) should do a movie about Rumours-era Fleetwood Mac. CAH's approach to Fleetwood Mac in "Storms" seems to me a good template for such a film because of her emphasis on archetypal reference points (the obsession Boorman raises to level of art).

I guess my point is. . .and maybe I should discuss this more after I finish reading "Storms". . . but what do other people think of CAH's fairytale/folktale archetypal reading -- by which she expresses understanding -- of the a) the mac phenomenon and b) her own relationship with Buckingham and the "family"?

I really want to get this book the more I hear about it-even if half the stuff is elaborated or false....

I think the title should be changed to "Dreams" cause she sure seems to be living in one.

Perhaps Mick and Keith wrote this song about CA as it sure seems to fit.:]
