Actress Tara Correa-McMullen shot to death
 

This is so sad... she was only 16 years old.... but then again, what sort of ding dong stands outside in INGLEWOOD!!??



LOS ANGELES (AP) - Teen actress Tara Correa-McMullen, who portrays a former gang member in the TV show "Judging Amy," was shot to death amid gang violence, police said.

Police in Inglewood, a suburb south of Los Angeles, said the actress was shot several times as she stood outside an apartment complex Oct. 21. Two men with her were wounded.

Correa-McMullen's parents, Devora Correa and Thomas McMullen, wrote in the eulogy that was read at the 16-year-old's funeral on Friday that their daughter made friends with everyone, "whether they were a grip or a caterer."

No suspects have been identified but the shooting is believed to be gang-related, police said.

"She may have just been at the wrong place at the wrong time," said Sgt. Steve Overly.

After filming her first movie, "Rebound," which was released this summer, Correa-McMullen won a recurring role on "Judging Amy" as a former gang member named Graciela.

I had no idea who she was when I saw her name in the subject line, but even though I never watched 'Judging Amy,' I do know exactly who she is from seeing commercials for the series during other shows.

A tragic death made even more heart-breaking by the fact that she was only 16. :distress:

Yes, it is life imitating art. Amy did everything to try to help her and she wound up being shot by gang members if I remember correctly. Very sad. :distress:
