Shelley Winters Sure Stuck It To Her Daughter

http://www.imdb.com/news/wenn/2006-01-19/

Winters Wed Before She Died
Movie star Shelley Winters realized her dream of marrying boyfriend Gerry DeFord hours before she died this past weekend. The Poseidon Adventure star's partner of 18 years called off the couple's wedding plans after Winters' daughter Vittoria Gassman publicly opposed the marriage. Gassman, who took charge of her mother's estate while she battled drug problems, refused to give up her right to the actress' fortune and Winters eventually decided to give up on her wedding dreams. But she became Mrs. Gerry DeFord on her death bed when actress pal Sally Kirkland, a legally ordained Los Angeles minister, wed the couple on Friday night. It was 85-year-old Winters' fourth marriage and DeFord's first. Winters died of heart failure 10 hours after exchanging vows.

I don't know what's funnier: the fact that she screwed over her daughter or the fact that SALLY KIRKLAND, bless her crazy-as-a-****house-rat heart, performed the ceremony.

sounds like something joan crawford would do...

Which makes me wonder if Shelley's daughter doesn't have a book in the can that was just sitting there until Shelley's demise. Christina did that as well as Marlene Dietrich's ungrateful sow of an offspring.

I was picturing Shelley, then I scrolled down and saw this.
Priceless.

I didn't know she died. :( She was crazy, a great interview. Never a dull moment when she was on a talk show.

Have you ever been to Sally's website? So much fun, she's soooo crazy. I love her. And she's a really fantastic artist, check out her paintings.

She was an original, that's for sure. Incredibly entertaining and a real spitfire. Her books are HILARIOUS.

Oh, yeah, some of those are nice.
You were the one telling me to watch "Anna", right?
I think at the time I was confusing Sally Kirkland with both...the lady from Raging Bull, and...the lady who played hotlips on the movie Mash. Mostly the Raging Bull lady.
Now I see....:p
I really like the lady from raging bull, too.
Wait - Cathy Moriarty?
My brain has severe gas tonight.

I saw something a while ago about the life of Marlene Dietrich and it seemed from the program that she was very cruel to her daughter and forced her into some really weird situations. My memory is hazy, it was years ago when I saw this. So maybe her "sow of an offspring" was just getting back at her for past misdeeds on Marlene's part, kind of like Christina Crawford. Although, I'm a little puzzled by her too; wasn't Mommy Dearest based on her memoirs? I guess Joan's portrayal could be a bit, um, skewed if Christina had an axe to grind for whatever reasons .

That would be Sally Kellerman.

Those 70's early 80's blondes confuse me. Clearly.
I'm all straight now, though.
