who's the guy?

. . . and another naggin' clothing question:
who's the (probably) ancient blues hero that peter used to display on this t-shirt on several occasions? i'd really like to know . . . ! |
i'd just received a reply to this by dalko - thanks very much, my friend!
he thinks that the man in question might be huddie ledbetter, judging by the fact that it's a coloured artist playing a 12-string guitar. that's quite an interesting offer, i'd say, as this may well be the case. there's only one thing puzzling me again: if it's actually leadbelly (who's one of the all-time greats of folk blues) - why then can't this very picture (him sitting down with his guitar and that door on his right side) be found ANYWHERE on the internet? at least i couldn't trace it down. on the other hand there are not too many rather well-known 12-string axemen from that era. blind willie mctell might be another contender, but i think i can rule him out as pics of him are few and far between - and this one can't be found either. anyway - for the moment being, dalko's solution seems to be the most obvious. so, any other suggestions, anyone . . . ? |
:)
The only thing we know it's a 12 strings guitar. To be honest, i started only with that.We will not be sure until we find the right picture. Maybe another guy? At least we know the direction to look for! |
Jesse "The Lone Cat" Fuller! :)
http://image.noelshack.com/fichiers/...resdefault.jpg Should be the right picture. :) |
. . . i'm speechless - now who would've thought that? i sure never heard about a t-shirt with JESSE FULLER on it . . . BLIMEY! well done, dalko - hats off to ya!
:thumbsup::thumbsup: i didn't expect this mystery to be unravelled without doubts, but here we go. now please lift the secret: how on earth did you find out about it? (you surely didn't ask greeny, did you?!) ;) |
Get some T-shirts made!! Those would be awesome.
|
:)
No, no. I did not ask Mr. Green. To be honest, i do not know how i did. I was just looking for 12 string blues players, but without success. From the moment i have chosen the right direction, if you look on my posts, i did it in 45 minutes. Here it was 3 a.m. when i started, and at 3,45 a.m. i posted the picture ... But, after, it was too late, and i deleted all my research. So i cannot exactly remember the way i followed to get there, keywords etc ... I was just lucky i believe ... :) |
Very nice detective work, dalko! This has been a mystery that I know many of us have wondered about over the years.
|
Thanks very much :)
