people handing out Lindsey show flyers in front of venue

this seems to be a really constructive way to both do something about LB situation if one isn't liking it while also advertise local LB solo shows -

people were apparently in front of the venue last night handing out local Lindsey Buckingham show flyers

gldstwmn 10-04-2018 09:43 AM

They were allowed to be there. I thought that was nice.

SteveMacD 10-04-2018 01:50 PM

That’s a didja.

I mean, I guess it’s cool, so long as it’s respectful. Some/most people just want a fun night out listening to music they like and don’t really care about what went down.

How sweet! I am sure it did not sway a single ticket holder to not attend after all. But cute thought! Maybe they’ll attend a solo show anyway.

I have no problem with people handing out flyers about Lindsey's solo tour at a FM concert, as long as that's all that's on them, and nothing nasty. But would people get upset if someone was passing out flyers about FM's tour at a Lindsey concert? In both cases, it's kind of like, what's the point?

I would love it!! Can you imagine people being pissed for standing by LB and handing out FMAC flyers!!:laugh::laugh::laugh:

I would respect that!! Understand it, maybe not so much. But, it's still funny.

I wish this was not posted because it makes me very sad :(
Lindsey has sold only around 26 tickets in Miami. Apparently this was an option to get people to notice Lindsey's solo tour. But unfortunately the mass that go to Mac concerts are more of a Stevie cult. If she was not on the stage 90% of them would not be there.

Oh wow. That’s sad. Although, Miami is kind of a fickle market.

That’s great, but is that the appropriate way to go about it?

Really? 90%? I thought most people went mostly because they liked the music.

I think it was actually only 9 tickets. I can make up numbers too.

dreamsunwind 10-04-2018 04:41 PM

This is a good idea actually. It shows support for Lindsey while still being respectful to everyone involved.

How viable is a tour when nobody buys tickets? He probably should just quit.

No I disagree. He loves small venues and loves performing. However Mac fans do not support Lindsey nor Christine on solo tours. Yes 90% of the "fans." Christine had a hit album and sung most of the Mac hits and in 1984 I saw her concert only attract 200 people at the most. Last year Christine and Lindsey could not even fill small theaters in most of the cities. The masses flock to Stevie. Lets be real. If Stevie was not in the band but Lindsey was, they would be playing small theaters. I don't understand it but is just reality :(

From what I saw his show in Miami has sold about halfway. It's roughly a 2K seat venue, one of the largest he's playing, and he's sold roughly 1K. Which still isn't that great but I'm not sure where you got the number 26 from. There's no way they would have added a show there if they had even remotely projected it would sell that poorly.

yeah Miami show is really weird, been watching it for weeks now. almost every other show practically sold out within days, but Miami is like non-existent. can't figure out what is it about that show, or venue or date?

i think advertising LB solo shows at FM tour shows is a cool spontaneous grassroots way of doing it - why not? i'm on twitter and i see people saying how Lindsey live is spectacular and that theyd go see him in a sec if he was touring again - and they are stunned when i link them to the tour dates - they had no clue. so why not tell FM audience which is by default so obviously overlapping with LB audience that he's gonna be in their town?

i realize it's not very useful for all those venues that are practically sold out, or when his shows are before FM, but when the situation is like it was in Tulsa? why not!

ryan4136 10-04-2018 07:30 PM

Yeah all balogna. LB has three shows in three days in central/south Florida. He’s selling just fine. His second show of tour has only 4 tickets remaining, his first concert has about 20. He’s doing fine.

elle 10-04-2018 07:33 PM

haha and talking about #hatersgonnahate - just looked through the rest of the messages in this thread. don't y'all have some fakewood tour to enjoy and be "positive" about?

regardless of your wishes, Lindsey's solo tour has been selling out really quickly in most places this time around. way quicker than his previous tours in similar venues.

Haha! Yeah, all those comments about how "cute it was" and how "they were allowed to be there" and how "Lindsey should quit" are so love-oriented really. And I'm fascinated by those posters here that were so angry about the lack of positivism toward Fakewood tour but don't seem to care about the Lindsey bashing here.:laugh::laugh:

He's fine, we're fine. :]:]:]

The first two comments were directed at the people passing out the flyers, not to or about Lindsey himself. Mitzo was the only one who actually wrote something negative about Lindsey. Yes, it would be nice if the fans showed their support for the band or individual members in a more positive light. All the fans, not just Mitzo. You followed up your criticism of Mitzo by saying Fakewood so I mean, why bother to criticize someone for making fun of Lindsey when you're making fun of FM? I know, I know, someone else probably started it first...

I never cared about criticism towards Lindsey. I laugh about it all the time because I know he did nothing wrong. He was the one ousted.

I was also criticizing you, not just Mitzo. You were so upset yesterday about some posters talking about FM opening night but yet you seem ok with Lindsey bashing.

Fakewood Mac exists since 2013. Google it.

Give me a break. You are doing what you accuse Stevie of doing: playing the victim. This thread was started to throw water on the fact that many people are excited about the opening night set list.

He past actions contributed to his being fired. Just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean it did not come into play. Otherwise this would not have happened.

you are reading into the thread what's not there. it was started to say exactly what the title say.

what you are reading into this thread speaks about you - or your bias towards some posters (hey this fandom has a wholla lotta hate towards me!), not about the thread. if you are not interested in LB show flyers just move along to whatever are happy threads for you!

If past actions are a reason to fire someone, Stevie should have been fired a long time ago. And we all know that. We all read it in countless books. So, yeah, nice try.

If you want to believe this has nothing to do with sweet Stevie, you're delusional. Just because you don't like it, it doesn't mean it's not true.

They could have and should have fired her at past points, but they didn’t.

They should have fired Lindsey in 1980 after Australia but didn’t. They did this year though.

Of COURSE Stevie has something to do with it. But so does Lindsey and how he treated her and others and his overall behavior/attitude for 40+ years. That is clear. It all came to a head this year, obviously. But I doubt this would have happened if he had been a sweet, innocent man who got along with everyone the last 40+ years. He played a part too.

You haven’t been reading the other threads then. I am not going to spoon feed you. Look at the Post Rumours board for one. The Tulsa vids thread. A number of positive/excited coverage from fans mixed in with the bitterness, plus at least one positive professional review. It has only been one tour show. The reviews from fans and professionals will grow, both positive and negative.

Nicks Fan 10-04-2018 09:14 PM

Lindsey isn't perfect but I hate it when people bring up his pas behavior and seem to ignore her behavior. Facebook is brutal for that. Stevie is the only one who has held up the band on records and tours. I have always maintained any of the bad behavior by all was largely due to the drugs fame etc. I have never excused anyone's behavior but I think Stevie has allot to answer for since 2009. Lindsey wanted new music and she has stalled and made excuses etc.

The current tour set list is decent but again another tour playing allot of songs they have played countless times before and no NEW album. I know a new album won't sell allot of copies but at least it would show they are not just a GH jukebox.

What kills me though is that some people are still claiming Lindsey kept them from playing their older stuff which such BS. FM is a group and I don't believe for ONE second that Lindsey has that much power to demand that they ignore the pre 75 material. Even if he did what is the excuse for all the non FM songs performed from 87-now vs actually doing some rare cuts. They should have never played Stand Back , Go Insane etc at a FM show. FM has a rich history of music and they should ONLY be playing FM music.

I am glad people are handing out flyers. As long as they do it peacefully and respectfully I have no problem with it.

A disgusting power play indeed. But hey, as long as victim Stevie gets away with it and her fans are happy about it, everything should be fine, right?

I have posted in the Post Rumours board last week. You also haven't been paying attention.

Bitterness? The same you're pouring here about Lindsey?

One professional review. Ok.

SteveMacD 10-04-2018 09:32 PM

I don’t like the notion that we have to pick sides, the “go to this, not that” mentality, the “#istandwith…” tribalism.

I’m very excited to be seeing both. I stand with the music I have loved for over 30 years, and this particular move offers up more music, not less.
