Beautiful. I figured he could whisper since you don’t use your vocal chords for that.

When I get laryngitis, my doctor tells me whispering is as bad as screaming.

But I don't claim to be an expert.

I hope he is doing better. But he's been whispering on albums for years so this shouldn't hinder his ability to make new music.

Seriously, I think that even if he can't tour, he would need to do publicity in conjunction with the release of BLUE LIGHT(?).

And if he can't talk, he can't do publicity.

It couldn't have happened at a worse time. People want to hear what he has to say and what he has to say in his art, in light of recent betrayals--and opportunity for a fresh start.

That's why I think he needs to get BLUE LIGHT out NOW, no matter the cost, and then release an album absolutely tearing down the traitors, which hopefully he has been working on, as soon as he is physically able to record and tour.

Obviously we want to see him in interviews, if we had our druthers, but if there are voice issues, he can write his answers (he can still write on Instagram like he had been doing) or they could have someone voice them. I guess I say this because I’m a Joshua Jackson fan and he was in the play Children of a Lesser God and his costar was a deaf woman who preferred not to speak. They did lots of interviews and she had an interpreter. She is on The Walking Dead now. Lindsey could explain to the interviewers that it’s temporary, while his vocal cords are healing

michelej1 09-25-2019 12:11 AM

It has to be a true whisper where you are just blowing air through the larynx. He can’t do that .... horrible thing he likes to do on ballads, because that did involve his vocal chords.

plenty of actors, singers, authors and others do their interviews back and forth over email. the control freak types love it because it gives them time to think and edit before sending.

think of it, he could have a pre-typed list of phrases off to one side, and then just cut and paste them as desired into his answers to whichever question. things like: 'circular', 'it was very organic', 'big machine, little machine', 'creative destiny', etc. Heck, we could make a pick-list for him and he wouldn't even have to do that part!

michelej1 09-25-2019 04:09 PM

Ok. I will start typing up all the compartmentalize answers for him.

I am distressed that Lindsey was buying bbq corn chips. That's not the kind of life I wanted for him.

My god people were making a big deal out of his chips!

Health problems aside.
He's a man.
He's a millionaire.
He's had a great life.
I'm sure he wants to stick around for his family, but we can't live in a bubble.

Eat those chips, drink that drink you love, enjoy life. When the ride's over, it's over. Enjoy life while you can!

He’s so slim, the chips are NOT for him....he’s doing an errand.
But you are right Homer.....life is so short, eat the bag full...but your ride maybe shorter..

He was devouring a bag of chips in the Tusk doc, so......

I just want him to be happy.

At least he got the old goat out of his life. That has to be a BIG jump start on Happy Happy Happy.

That’s right, when the domestic goddess was making coffee.

michelej1 09-25-2019 08:42 PM

Where were people making a big deal? On Twitter?

I was just kidding. I don’t care what he eats. But I do think getting a glimpse onto his Whole Foods shopping list is pretty funny.

Clearly an item he couldn't get on the room service menu of his 5-star hotel.

On Facebook a day or two ago. He was seen out and about, and carrying a bag of bbq chips, and everyone was bitching about how he shouldn't be eating that. I called them all chip Nazi's, and to let him eat whatever the hell he wants!

AND that's why I'm barely on Facebook.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Let the man be happy. Maybe he's replacing his tour fever with some calories, so what? That doesn't mean he's eating them everyday.

I was afraid that you unfriended me!

Let him live his life. He's truly better off without those scumbags.

lol - i did exact same thing on facebook as you did here, but apparently there are many people who don't understand the joke when they see one. at the time i thought Homer of all people, if not others, were seeing the joke in it and that's how i took his comment back to me - but by his comments here, apparently not! :wavey:

yes, you want to watch your diet when you are recovering from heart attack / open heart surgery, and yes it's very funny to see him in the store with the reputation of selling health food managing to find probably the least healthy thing you can find there.

Oh, I thought it was funny, and my comments weren't directed at you. People bitch no matter what these days(again, not directed at you).

The thing is, David, if he gets as fat as a house, you will be the first one making fun of him.

In his own words, it takes time..... :distress::distress:

aleuzzi 09-27-2019 08:00 AM

I really hope he recovers his voice. But assuming the worst and he does not, I’m betting he’d still be VERY creative and focus on instrumental work and music production. The man is a role model for creative people everywhere.

I dunno....Being the studio wizard that he is, I can't imagine that if he has any bit of voice to sing with left that he couldn't do all sorts of things with it in the studio..with all the electronics that are out there...I mean he's messed with his voice in the studio forever anyway (so much so that he can make it sound an awful lot like FM when Chris and Stevie were never there). The touring bit is more problematic. He uses pre recorded tracks, but usually not for his lead vocals ...

Whatever he chooses to do (and how he chooses to do it) he will remain a creative force, very likely until he stops breathing.

Same.

But wow, he has had quite an artistically gratifying / influential and highly lucrative career (the best of both worlds), even if he never sings again.

I just desperately wish it had ended on a higher note, if it's indeed over.

yes I don't think he wants his career to be determined by anyone but himself, and most certainly not by Stevie.

So what a low blow for the whole heart thing to have happened before he was able to make a strong musical counter statement to everything they did.

snroxman 10-06-2019 10:09 AM

I hope he's able to make a return. Forget FM. Lindsey is the creative force. Collaborations, producing other artists, anything he wants - ALL good.

SteveMacD 10-06-2019 09:03 PM

Whether or not he can sing again, why hasn’t his new album come out? It’s been done for at least two years, now. Why did the label opt to release a comp over a new album? How much longer do we have to wait to hear new music from Lindsey, even if it’s determined he can’t tour it? He’s 70, isn’t time ticking away?

BLY 10-06-2019 09:26 PM

Lindsey said on his 2018 tour that the album would be released in 2019 in conjunction with a new tour but unfortunately he had his health issue and the brakes have been put on his plans. So................?

So, release it now knowing there won’t be a tour, release it now now knowing a tour might come later (a la OOTC), or give us an update about his voice (again, the only reason we know he can’t sing is because they told us).

bombaysaffires 10-06-2019 11:13 PM

presumably he'd at least like to promote the album by doing interviews and such. Otherwise it'll just sink like a stone from public awareness. If he can't talk, it makes interviews harder, certainly for tv interviews. He can certainly do print interviews answering questions via email. I'd personally love if he'd do this anytime now, new album release or not. But I think he'd like to have something to talk about other than rehashing the whole FM sh*tshow. He would probably like to define himself by something other than that.

He's been working with a voice specialist so he may well have hopes of touring it at some point and wants to wait.

Kristen's gone fairly silent about him on social media as far as I know, but I've been knee-deep in work and haven't followed much of anything on social media the last couple months or so. Maybe someone else knows if she's made any comments.

michelej1 10-07-2019 10:06 PM

If he doesn’t have his voice, I hope he still has his age-defying energy. I know that is something that probably had to be built back up over time and medication often causes fatigue. But I prize his vitality because some people are jealous of it and that gives me satisfaction.

you're likely right, but wouldn't it be great if in fact his voice was actually getting better, and they're just not telling anyone because it'll be such a great surprise when he's suddenly booked on some show or something and comes out and sings?? Now THAT would make a great story, get all sorts of media attention, and THEN he could drop his album? It would be such a fantastic comeback story.
