I think Christine & the band really miscalculate here. The B3 is all wrong for this song. She should have played the Yamaha on this one for a bouncy, springy musical texture similar to "Angel." The B3 just coats the whole thing in a thick syrup.

And the band's tempo choice here minimizes the impact of the vocal harmonies on the chorus & gives the performance the vague feel of a throwaway. The Mirage tour did not do well at all by "Love in Store," is my view.

"Gypsy" is another song that suffered on the road in 1982, for several of the same reasons (the B3, the avoidance of the album's lead riff, lazy vocal harmonies).

When I was a kid I would run into my parents' room and crawl into bed with my mom on cold snowy mornings to listen to the radio to see if there were going to be school closings. The had this small am clock radio from the 60's or 70's and we would listen to the local station that played light rock in between the announcer doing silly bits of comedy, school lunches and closings and local news. His name was Jim Reynolds, I believe. They called him the Teddy Bear. Anyway, there are handful of songs that always take me back to that time, the comfort of feeling safe and protected, the anticipation that there would be no school and that I could go out and enjoy sled riding and build a snowman. I have them on a playlist on my ipod called "Snow Day". They are It Might Be You, Allentown, Break My Stride, Overkill, Drive, Sara (no, the one from Starship), Africa, I Want To Know What Love Is, and of course Love In Store.

Thank you again for posting this live version. I absolutely love it.

I always wonder if Stevie's little added harmonies that weren't on the album versions of the songs were planned or she would just throw them in spontaneously. Like in the Tango video when Christine's singing Everywhere and Stevie throws in the "I wanna be with you..." during the chorus.

Many thanks for posting this.

Oh, Christine. How I miss thee...
