Another 4-star review for Buckingham McVie!
Just seen this review in Uncut magazine - first time posting an image, so I hope this works! It's an 'easy, uplifting listen', apparently...

Wow! What a great review. Songbird II... I think not... No wonder it went south. You can never re-do Songbird. It's just Songbird.
Can't wait to hear the album closer. The one he says is the best track. |
I can fly again! What a great line for her life.

Thanks for sharing the review Tango, worked perfectly! |
How did Uncut rate the last two Stevie releases?
ETA: 7/10 for 24 Karat Gold (which they prefer, at least in that review, to In Your Dreams). ETA 2.0: 6/10 for IYD 8/10 for SWS 10/10 for UTS 8/10 for SYW |

I'm glad it got a very positive review. I wonder what Christine's "Too Far Gone" sounds like. No one has mentioned it yet. Very cool that "Carnival Begin" got a shout out.
Christine says in the micro-interview below that three or four of LB's tracks were completed before she returned, so maybe there's one LB track where we can hear her? |
I'm imagining Too Far Gone is very retro bluesy sounding.

The way he described Lay Down for Free sounds promising.

I'm really happy they have given it a full-page, too. It seems to me that it is being treated as if it were a new Mac release. Graeme Thomson, the reviewer, is a good writer - he wrote the only decent biography of Kate Bush, 'Under The Ivy'. |

I don't think her body/mind can handle any more of those bullets. |
According to Uncut:
Under the Skin > Say You Will = Seeds We Sow = Buckingham/McVie > 24 Karat Gold > In Your Dreams 7/10 for 24 Karat Gold 6/10 for IYD 8/10 for SWS 10/10 for UTS 8/10 for SYW Note: couldn't find reviews/ratings for Gift of Screws or In the Meantime or Trouble in Shangri La |

Hmmm... how to rank 21st Century Mac?! 1. Say You Will - 10/10 2. In Your Dreams - 9/10 3. 24 Karat Gold - 9/10 4. Gift of Screws - 9/10 5. Under the Skin - 9/10 6. Seeds We Sow - 8.5/10 7. In the Meantime - 8/10 8. Trouble in Shangri La - 8/10 Where will B/M fall? Should I rank EP for a round top 10? |

SYW is still growing on me. I just need to take some tracks off of it. It's over cooked. |

For me, it's:
Seeds We Sow - 9.5 Say You Will - 9.0 Gift of Screws - 8.5 24 Karat Gold - 8.5 In Your Dreams - 8.0 In the Meantime - 7.5 Under the Skin - 7.0 Extended Play - 6.0 Trouble in Shangri La - 4.0 |
It's hilarious but I was thinking of starting a best mac related releases of the 21st century thread, but I was gonna wait until after BM was released. But for right now I'd go:
In Your Dreams 9/10 Gift of Screws 8.5/10 Say You Will 8.5/10 24 KG 8/10 (some of the highest highs tho just not nearly as consistent as above) Seeds We Sow 7.5/10 Under the Skin 7/10 In the Meantime 6.5/10 Trouble in Shangri La 6/10 Extended Play 3/10 I really wish was never made. The three lindsey songs would've been released eventually and there's just no reason for Without Yous existence! |
Also if the original gift of screws from around 99/00 was released as is that would be At the top of the list at 10/10. Also guaranteed that if they allowed Christine involvement and her best in the meantime tracks were included amongst the best of say you will and smile at you had ****img piano in it! Then say you will would've rivaled Tusk as one of the greatest masterpiece ever made at an 11/10, but my list had to reflect reality.
|
I'm surprised everyone is ranking Trouble in Shangri-La so low. It's one of my favorite albums. I think it's on par with Bella Donna and The Wild Heart.
