Bonnie Tyler covers "Need Your Love So Bad"

Bonnie Tyler has a new album coming out October 3rd, that will feature a cover of Fleetwood Mac's "Need Your Love So Bad."

The album is entirely made up of covers... from the Jennifer Holiday song, "And I'm Telling You I'm Not Going"... to the Beatles' "In My Life"... to Tom Petty's "Learning To Fly"... and it will be released only in Germany and Scandinavia.

So far, there is no title... but I'll post that info when I get it.
As well as my opinion of her version of "Need Your Love So Bad" when I hear it.

Actually, "Need Your Love So Bad" is a Little Willie John song...even Fleetwood Mac's is a cover.

(I know, I know..."picky, picky")

D'Oh!.... *blushing*.... I'm so embarassed now!

I can't believe when I read (and then posted about) that info last night, I didn't remember Little Willie John did it first!
I guess I just saw "Need Your Love So Bad" listed, and I thought, "Oh cool! Bonnie's doing a Mac tune!"

Yikes... I'm gonna get my imaginary membership to the Fleetwood Mac fan-club revoked!

Ah well, it'll still be interesting to hear her take on it.
If the production on this album is up to snuff, it should be pretty great.
Bonnie's got the chops, vocally... no doubt about it... she just often works with the wrong producers.
So I hope that's not the case this time too.

Don't worry about it. I just mentioned it because I do the same thing...like back when the Allman Bros Band released their "Enlightened Rogues" album, they did "Need Your Love So Bad", too...my first thought was "they did a Fleetwood Mac song!".

Also, I have to keep in my mind that "Homework" is an Otis Rush song, not a Peter Green song...so when Rick Vito covered it, my first thought was "Rick's doing another Peter Green song". (Plus, the J. Geils Band did "Homework" on one of their early live albums)

As long as she doesn't have Jim Steinman (of Meat Loaf fame) doing the production or songwriting, I think she'll be ok.

Aww, I *love* Steinman's music.
For some reason, all that overwrought, Götterdämmerung, Wagner-meets-Spector, everything AND the kitchen sink, melodramatic production just blows me away.

And he has to be one of the most clever lyricists around... at least IMHO.

TOTALLY off topic....

Johnny Stew..HOW the HECK did you get those German umlaut's (Impressed?? Yeah, I looked it up! ) over the letters in that word... Götterdämmerung. <--- Copied it from you so they are there...LOL Just wondering....

Hi Christy,

You just hold down the ALT key on your keyboard, and use the number pad (*not* the number keys above your letters) to type 132, for the ä, and 148 for the ö.

Play around with it, and type other number combinations... you'll find all kinds of cool characters.
Like this one.... ¿ (alt + 168)
Or try using 4-digit numbers beginning with a zero, and you'll get characters like the "registered trademark" symbol.... ® (alt + 0174) or the section sign.... § (alt +0167)

Have fun!
:)
