Seven Souls

I've been bored at work today so found a few pictures from the Seven Souls (Bob Welch, etc).

WOW!! These are great pics! Thanks for posting! :)
One can really feel the mood and the music... That black guy (lead singer?) is really a character! :)

Yes it does look like a lot of fun...pity we don't really get music/musicians like this these days.

Thanks for posting these, chriskisn! I've seen the photo by the parking meter before, and maybe the last shot too, but I've never seen the others. Where did you find them?

aleuzzi 04-16-2014 09:34 AM

Amazing! Thank you. Can we just send you a wish list of obscure things to find for whenever you are bored at work? LOL.

Actually found them while looking through google.fr (france).

No I can't read French

Actually was on there as part of a discussion/research between John (wetcamelfood) and myself as to whether "Fire" was really a Seven Souls single or whether it was mistakenly attributed to the Seven Souls rather than The Crazy World of Arthur Brown. Google Translate is useful for battling my way through French and Spanish sites, but still don't have the answer to that question!

Two things I found yesterday on French sites, firstly those pictures, and secondly the Kareen Anton album that I've been trying to track down for years. Now do I want to pay thirty euro for a album that I might not actually like by some obscure French artist?

If anyone actually has contact details for any of the living members of the Seven Souls, we might actually get some questions answered (damn it we need Wendy Welch back here).

What a great find! I should be able to help with some of the French if you want to link me to what you're reading.

If we could only at least find the track listing to the elusive Seven Souls album that was released on Barclay, this could help greatly. When I asked Bob about it, he contacted a 7S member he was still in contact with and whoever that was did confirm it was released on Barclay and it was self titled, around '69, but that's it, that's all we have. We don't know if any of the tracks released on those Barclay singles were on the album or not. Hopefully someday...

The interesting thing about this so called album is that there is absolutely no evidence on the internet that it ever existed. I know that the internet doesn't really cover obscure 1960's bands that well, but you would think that there would be a mention of it somewhere if it existed. Most of the sites that list the Seven Souls tracks don't list all 8 (or possibly 9 if we include Fire), so we are pretty much already ahead of what is to be found on the internet.

Not to answer for John but this isn't the elusive album although these four tracks may well appear on the album (if it actually exists).

chriskisn 04-18-2014 03:18 AM

Hey John, what about this one from 1964? Different band? Pre Welch?

Ok, so for those of you playing at home :)

The following track was released on a Spanish single (and also on a French single apparently). At the least the Spanish single lists this as "The Crazy World of The Seven Souls" and also "The Crazy World of Arthur Brown BY The Seven Souls"

My thoughts are that this single is probably a Crazy World of Arthur Brown single with the Seven Souls version of "I'm Coming" on the B side (two artists on one single wasn't unheard of in the 60's) and that something has been lost in translation.

Once you've listened to the so-called Seven Souls version, take a listen to what we know is the Crazy World of Arthur Brown, and tell me if you think it is the same artist or not?
