A Ledgie in Need

Hey All-

I am in desperate need of a new cd. I want to go on a little spree at itunes, but I am so fried from work that I honestly can't think of some good songs. I need your help. If you feel like it, give me some ideas. I'm extremely eclectic when it comes to music, so I don't care what genre of music it is. Just some of your personal favorites.

Just no FM/Stevie solo/Blondie. I pretty much have everything.

Go!

Get yourself Electric Warrior by T-Rex. Solid album, start to finish. Other suggestions...

...Guero - Beck

...Gimme Fiction - Spoon

...Good news for people that like bad news - Modest Mouse

...anything by Bryan Ferry/Roxy Music

The album Something Cool by June Christy. I have no idea if iTunes carries it. I've also been listening to Dexter Gordon and Horace Silver.

Because I was just talking about her:

Sophie B. Hawkins - Timbre...it's a great album

Well...

I suggest Lullacry-"Vol.4", Great hard rock (Not exactly metal) music w/female pop style singing, One of the better albums I purchased last year.

Also, along the same lines as Lullacry is Lacuna Coil's newest release "Karmacode", great mellow gothic rock w/great lead female vocals. Their current single is a cover song most may know from the original by Depeche Mode: "Enjoy the Silence"

Cyndi Lauper! The Body Acoustic, or... Hat Full of Stars. If they have HFOS.
I'll go along with the Bryan Ferry rec, too. ;)

I love me some Pretenders and Natalie Merchant.

cat power: "the greatest" or "you are free"

mark knopfler and emmylou harris: "all the roadrunning"

they have hfos, but it's split up, and you can only buy it by the song. it's really weird.

i know, i always wonder what makes them do that. i mean, all the songs are there. they're just split up under two different HFOSes. iii don't get it.

Oooh, how could I forget one of the greatest albums of all time???

Nevermind - Nirvana

Mari 08-24-2006 03:03 AM

Guillemots - Through the windowpane... I think they're just brilliant.

And I don't know if you're into dance/electro (or whatever they call this) but Hot Chip - The Warning is a great new album too.

(edit) something to look out for, it's not out yet: The Veils - Nux Vomica. Not for everyone, I think, his voice is a bit unusual, but the songs are wonderful. I guess you could compare it to Jeff Buckley (I never really got into him though -yet-)
