'Spiritual warrior' Stevie Nicks urges fans to wear face masks

Fleetwood Mac's Stevie Nicks is calling on her fans to make it their "mission" to fight Covid-19 and stay safe by wearing face masks.Stevie Nicks has urged her fans to wear face masks and "change into spiritual warriors" in the fight against Covid-19.

The Fleetwood Mac legend has shared a diary entry dated July 17, in which she details how, amid the coronavirus pandemic, she has found her own "magical place" where she feels "safe" and she is encouraging everyone to join her in making it their "mission to do all that you can to stop the virus".

She wrote: "Feeling slightly euphoric and inspired to be alive and still be able to feel young and safe here."Right here in this moment, I feel hope. I feel happy. I feel safe. Tomorrow when I wake in the afternoon, the news will negate all the goodness until tomorrow night, late when I come back to this place where everything is possible."She continued: "If everyone could just wear a mask and stay in as much as possible -- you might be able to find this magical place I have found, in the early morning when everyone sleeps. And when you wake up, make it your mission to do all that you can to stop the virus before someone you know falls really ill. Because then, you will be too late. Your life will be forever changed."

The 72-year-old singer is desperate to be able to return to the stage to perform again. However, she insisted that if people don't unite and go to war with the deadly virus, the world will never be the same again. She added: "In order for us all to get back to our former lives -- we must all change into spiritual warriors."We must make it our mission to fight the virus; otherwise there is nothing left. If we don't get ahead of this now, we will live with such guilt and regret that that it will destroy us. You can't go back. You can't push rewind."I want to go back on the road. I want to sing for you again. I want to put on those high black suede platform boots and dance for you again. I want you to forget the world and sing with me."Please don't throw this world away."Please don't give up on humanity and let this virus win this war. It's up to us now -- because nobody is helping us. Nobody is coming to our rescue. No one."

The emotional note comes after the 'Go Your Own Way' hitmaker admitted she regrets never getting to share a stage with late Fleetwood Mac co-founder Peter Green. The musician recently passed away at the age of 73, and Stevie - who joined the band in 1975, after Peter had already left - paid a glowing tribute to him.She said in a statement posted on her Twitter account: "I am sorry to hear about the passing of Peter Green. My biggest regret is that I never got to share the stage with him. I always hoped in my heart of hearts that that would happen."When I first listened to all the Fleetwood Mac records, I was very taken with his guitar playing. It was one of the reasons I was excited to join the band."His legacy will live on forever in the history books of Rock n Roll. It was in the beginning, Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac and I thank you, Peter Green, for that. You changed our lives. (sic)"

Oh we are definitely getting a Nurses Angel Song  or something along those lines

How nice. Always great to hear from Stevie. I even like the Stevieisms, like "slightly euphoric." (I am passionately noncommittal about Stevieisms. I find them extravagantly nondescript.)

Applying a little explication de texte here, I think even her rambly syntax and word choice betray something deeper and darker - about herself. This seems like classic projection in a clinical sense, but what does it mean? A 72-year-old with a lifelong little-girl outlook on the world is not surprisingly having intimations of her own mortality, but I think these references to guilt and regret and being "destroyed" indicate something really, really deep and dark. They aren't just arbitrary diaryspeak. She is a fascinating person and a transcendent, generous artist, and yet Stevie is unsettled in her castle. She is not at peace, I think.

"If we don't get ahead of this now, we will live with such guilt and regret that it will destroy us."

That isn't an Old Testament, prophet-from-the-hills moment. Stevie is talking about herself.

Yeah and she can recycle lyrics from Angel, Street Angel, Sleeping Angel, Touched By An Angel, Desert Angel, Soldier's Angel, and throw in the chorus from Cheaper Than Free for the heck of it.

Macfan you caused me to literally spit out my tea :distress::laugh:

David, are you suggesting she is merely expressing her deep fear of death, or that perhaps she has regret for what she has done re: Lindsey and the band??

I am just going to take the words “can’t go back” as a sign.

I saw John Oliver talking about his wife. She was a medic in the war. She enlisted on September 12, 2001. And he says that he told her he was doing stand up in Philadelphia and that it was a war zone and she asked him to rephrase that because she was sure even though it might’ve been a tough comedy crowd in Philly that it was not really a war zone compared to Fallujah. This made me laugh and think about Stevie‘s comparisons.

Covid or not you should HANG it up. You have ruined it all because you have become a bitter old woman.

My cousin and her husband died of this terrible virus. I applaud Stevie for taking the initiative to get the word out. I know a lot of us are no spring chickens and we must be extremely careful.

i just want to tell you how sorry i am for the loss of your cousin and her husband. sending you lots of hugs right now. i agree with you i like that stevie is doing her part and trying to get people to be smart about this virus. most of my family members don't believe it's a big deal which is really frustrating. they continue to visit one another without taking any safety precautions. stay safe.

pryderi 08-13-2020 04:30 PM

Thank you so much for your kind words.

I'm so sorry for your loss. That must be awful to lose both of them.

pryderiI am sorry for your loss. My dear friend battled covid19 for 3 months, in and out of hospital. He's 54 years old and the doctors say he has irreversible lung damage.
The Ledge is simply a "I hate Stevie Nicks" forum.
No matter what she says, it will be interpreted as something to make fun of on here.

Stevie Nicks Fears She Will Not Sing Again after Contracting COVID-19 – Why Does She Think So?
August 14, 2020 | by Olowokandi Fiyin

Veteran singer Stevie Nicks gives a stern warning to her fans and urges them to take COVID-19 seriously as she fears that she might not be able to sing again if she contracts the virus.

Stevie Nicks has a stern message for her fans and followers who refuse to take the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic seriously. The singer who has been advocating for people to wear their masks and keep safe took to Facebook yesterday to issue another warning.

In the lengthy post, the “Landslide” crooner referenced the current statistics of deaths in the United States as an indicator that the virus is wreaking havoc even though many treat it with levity.

Describing the novel coronavirus as a “silent killer hiding in the shadows,” Nicks begged her fans who refused to wear masks to do better and not consider it to be a political statement.

It is no surprise that [Stevie Nicks] has significant concerns about the virus as she reportedly battled the flu last spring.

She further explained that the virus was no respecter of status or age and that those who have contracted it still grapple with its after-effects, before offering a grim reality about how the diseases my affect her. She wrote:

“If I get it, I will probably never sing again. Put me on a ventilator, and I will be hoarse for the rest of my life~ I don’t have much time… I am 72 years old….”

Nicks made sure to call out people who were gathering at beaches, bars, and parties before likening the world’s current situation to the season of “American Horror Story” she appeared in.

In conclusion, the 72-year-old highlighted the repercussions the virus could have on the music community and senior community members, begging people to “never put your family members who are older and more fragile in danger.”

It is no surprise that the singer has significant concerns about the virus as she reportedly battled the flu last spring. Nicks’ fears about her health are valid as CDC reports that sore throat, congestion, difficulty breathing are some of the symptoms experienced when COVID-19 is contracted.

It will be recalled that “The Chain” singer became a music sensation back in 1975 when she signed with Fleetwood Mac.

Her grandfather Aaron Nicks, a renowned country singer, was the one who bought her first guitar and taught her how to play famous country songs.

She was part of the band, “Challenging Times” and collaborated with Lindsey Buckingham before joining Fleetwood Mac. Alongside being in a group, Nicks has a thriving solo career.
