Gift Of Screws Tour: Dream Set List?

So Lindsey is venturing onto another tour and I got to thinking that it wouldn't be so bad if he could try some new songs- aside from what may (hopefully) be on the (hopefully) new album. He has a lot of things from his solo albums, and even Fleetwood Mac, that I wouldn't mind hearing over, say, "Trouble" acoustic or even gawdforbid "Go Your Own Way." I realize he will most likely do both songs, but it's still nice to dream. I mean, where's the love for things like "Mary Lee Jones" or "Walk a Thin Line" or the entire "Out of the Cradle" album? Hopefully this tour will have a bit of an edge, and maybe a totally different feel...so I propose we all come up with about 12 or so songs we'd like to hear and have some fun with it. Can't forget that there *may* be an album with new songs of course. I'm just excited at the whole "rock album" idea. I couldn't ask for a better theme for Lindsey.

Here's my 12 songs (in no particular order)

Turn It On
I Want You
Don't Look Down
Countdown (original style)
This Is The Time
I Know I'm Not Wrong
Save Me a Place
Eyes Of The World
Bleed To Love Her
My Little Demon
Mary Lee Jones
Say We'll Meet Again (last song)

and, instead of doing "D.W. Suite", he should do a cover of one of Dennis Wilson's best songs from Pacific Ocean Blue, as a tribute, and to help the CD sales out!

That is such an interesting idea! I'll have to think about this...post as soon as I have it thought out. Great thread idea!

Well, if nothing else he's got to add some OOTC because he said more than once he would, last time around.

That's what I'm hoping for too. I don't think he thought anyone would want to hear anything from OOTC.

If he didn't know that he's got cognitive problems, the extent of which frighten me.

He just seemed surprised people were screaming OOTC songs out. I nearly passed out when he played Turn It On...I wouldn't mind if he kept it in either as long as he does Countdown too.

LMAO thats great. Only maybe he WOULD do a sick Skid Row 18 and Life. I just dont know....

My dream show:

1. Don't Look Down (With Instrumental Intro)
2. Eyes Of The World
3. What Makes You Think You're The One
4. Book Of Love
5. Cast Away Dreams
6. Try For The Sun
7. Shuffle Riff
8. Dont Let Me Down Again
9. Goodbye Angel
10. Twist of Fate
11. Big Love ALBUM VERSION
12. Bang The Drum
13. Turn It On
14. A Satisfied Mind
15. Go Your Own Way...of course.

I think maybe throwing in "Thats How We Do It In LA" and "Empire State" would be nice for those respective places, despite me never being able to see that being in DC.

Re: OOTC:

I wouldn't be at all that surprised if Lindsey views that album as incredibly dated/irrelevant (in lyrical content, as well as the horrifically dated- even for 1992- production values), and winces at the thought of performing those songs on stage. Plus, lets not forget the fact that Lindsey & his label both went on a full-on blitz to promote the hell out of that album. As we all know, the album sold poorly (with Lindsey only 5 years removed from Tango, and 15 removed from Rumours); Lindsey has nothing but bitter resentment for those years, based on everything I've heard.

That said, I'd be quite pleased if he did Countdown, You Do Or You Don't... maybe a more guitar oriented Surrender The Rain, if he could pull it off. Closing the show with Say We'll Meet Again every few shows or so. All fine by me. However, we don't need a Come-esque masturbatory guitar epic like This Is The Time- IMO, the worst song he's ever recorded, solo or with FM. As it is, for all we know, he's already (re)written one for the new album.

Speaking of another POS, in lieu of Doing What I Can, how about (for the first time ever) performing Big Love with a full band? I'd love to see that- and I know I'm not alone.

This is just too easy, in no particular order

1) Oh well
2) Countdown
3) Turn It On
4) Twist of Fate
5) Come
5) Not that Funny
6) This is the Time
7) Eyes of The World
8) Got to Get away
9) Time Bomb Town
10) Shuffle Riff
11) Book Of Love
12) Red Rover.
13) Dont Look Down

And a few New Songs

I really think the above list of songs is a great mix of old and new and at the same time a fresh change from the usual same songs lindsey plays all the time. Dont get me wrong I'd miss go your own way alot if i was there and he didnt play it. Its a hard call for Lindsey I guess.
What percentage of the crowds at these shows know every single one of lindseys songs like we do. Its maybe always better for lindsey to throw in the old crowd pleasers. Hes obviously more careful now than what he was in his 'Tusk days'

I love making these things. I think about dream setlists all the time. Just off the top of my head.....and there are more than 12....so like a full show- add a few new songs into the mix:

1. Someone's Gotta Change Your Mind
2. Trouble
3. Monday Morning
4. Tango in the Night
5. Turn it On
6. Countdown
7. Big Love- electric
8. Go Insane- acoustic
9. Try for the Sun- acoustic (sing w/ Stevie if she shows up at any shows)
10. Twist of Fate
11. Red Rover
12. Gift of Screws
13. Go Your Own Way
14. Eyes of the World
15. Bleed to Love Her (full band)

As it doesn't seem he is venturing anywhere near the south, i probably won't get to see anything like this, but the rest of you have fun. Hopefully he'll add some shows....
