When did she start to thank the city?
In the Mirage concert video, they finish the show with Songbird, and Christine singing .. Like never before... Thank you Los Angeles WE LOVE YOU!!! ...like never before
In the Tango concert video, they finish the show with Songbird, and Christine singing .. Like never before... Thank you San Francisco God Bless You!!! ...like never before In The Dance DVD , they finish the show with Songbird, and Christine singing .. Like never before... Thank you and God bless everybody goodnight! ...like never before. She didn't thank the city cause I guess she knew this would be a DVD and a special reunion show so she replace the city with "everybody". However she did thank the city that year during the Reunion tour. I remember on thanksgiving day I was in NYC, and at MSG she said Like never before... Oh New York New York Thank you! ...like never before (actually can't remember if she said Thank you or God bless you but I do remember she mentioned twice: New York New York, and her voice kind of broke). So did she start to thank the city during the final song, Songbird, since the first time they chose to finish with this song? And well, there's a 2nd question, when did they decided to use Songbird as the final song? Since the Rumours tour? Maybe the ledgies who are fans and went to shows since the 70s know the answer. PS: I remember Songbird was not the final song in 1997. Actually they came back to sing Farmer's Daughter, but she said Thank you to the city during Songbird anyway. |

I'm so angry I was born in Italy and only in 1983. If I was born before, maybe in 1950-60 and in the United States, I'm sure I would have followed her and FM everywhere! Well, she was often the only one (except for Stevie) who always thanked the audience, because she's always so kind and nice with everyone :) I hope some older fan will help us solving this new mistery :D |

She's so sweet, caring (am I wrong or was she saying to the audience "also be careful when you drive to home tonight?") and her husky voice make my heart skip a beat, as always! She makes you feel protected, it's wonderfulhttp://www.interfaithforums.com/images/smilies/wub.gif I love the way she plays the piano during this performance too! |

So it was also a dream to me to see the Mac live. When they reunited in 1997 and learned they will tour, I decided to see them anyway. Internet was already born and I could get my ticket thru Ticketmaster. Having relatives in NJ makes easier to stay in the NY-NJ area and that made me decide to choose that city. Besides a thanksgiving holiday (and the shopping;) was a plus for that short trip. Back to the topic, maybe chili D or other ledgie who attended gigs from the 70s knows the answer. |
To my knowledge and based on all the bootlegs I have heard, either Stevie or Christine always thanked whatever city they were in sometime or near the end of the show.

http://www.sendspace.com/file/8a6ak4 Chris would usually dedicate the song to the city before she played it in 1977 and 1978. She must have started thanking the city during the closing bars in 1980—for example, in Chicago in May, she does so. |
You are great, David.
And all of you, of course! Long life to The Ledge! ;) |
