Torrents

Does anyone have the heart to take me through the torrent downloading process? Kind of a step by step for beginners? I'm scared...

Thanks!

All you need is a client (program)... like utorrent to get you started... You can get a nice easy to use one here: http://www.utorrent.com/

Go to the download page.

Once you've installed it, you just need to find a torrent. Just be concious of where the folder is that your downloads are kept, so you know where to find them on your computer. You can manually set that up and direct the download to any fold you like, or one you set up. Do this in the preferences once you install the client.

Give it a try... nothing to be scared of.

Like MacMan said, once you have installed that client, you go find the torrent somwhere else. There are many websites that you can visit to search for keywords and see if someone has uploaded the TV show or movie or whatever you are looking for. Mininova is one such website.

I taught myself how to download via torrent after some trial and error, And now that I mastered it I laugh at how easy it was when others made it sound impossible.

When I first started.... I had no clue how to do it... didn't know anyone that had done it to ask for advise... New it was possible somehow since so many were doing it... but it literally took me like a whole wknd of reading stuff online and trying stuff trying to wrap my head around the whole concept... and like Brian said, it's actually unbelievably simple.

I've had this problem, along with the "connection closed by peer" message when trying to initiate a torrent from ThrownDown. The way I got around it was to save the torrent file pointer to my Desktop, then start it manually from there rather than trying to open from the URL. I'm using utorrent, by the way.

If you decided on utorrent, you might want to check your speed settings (Options/Speed Guide). I set mine wrong when I was first installing the program and it caused all kinds of hell with my PC.
