Obscure Demos & Outtakes
 

I need some opinions and good counsel.

I had an unidentified Lindsey song - which some kind people helped me to identify - posted - but my mom made me take the link from sendspace down and delete the post off the Ledge. She was afraid of the internet and that we could be sued...so she will only let me put up live concert songs...and then she ain't crazy about it.

What's your take on this? S'pose I could get into trouble with demos? I mean I would never put up a commercially released song. I s'pose that demos are intellectual property...

yeah what you did was completely wrong and illegal. had the post and the unreleased song fell into the wrong hands you would have been held accountable and would have been lookin at 25 - 30 yrs without parole.

we share demos and stuff all the time. as long as you don't attempt to make a profit off of it, i think it's alright.

Also your not actually allowed to listen to the track. You are just allowed to own a copy of the file. Once you open the file and Your ears hear the first note, then its too late. You have committed a crime.
only thing you can do is wash your ears out and hand yourself in to the local police station.

If Lindsey reads this Ledge...how would he feel about it? Mom told me to put myself in his position...that I may be a fan, but he might not see it that way. What if I was famous and then some punk kid posted this unfinished song?

Think about it this way then. Lindsey does read the ledge and he hasn't said anything to you so forget about it.
On the otherhand it would take several days to file a suitable lawsuit.

You guys are making me feel better already. Guilt is a terrible emotion ...

I can't be too hard on her... she does feed, clothe and care for me. But she's the one she sees sitting in the penitentary (sp) (big house).

I don't know, but I'd worry more about the lawyers at the labels than him.

Naw, I am just kidding. She's pretty cool. She loved Napster when it was up and running....and most importantly free and sharing......we got a lot of good tunes off of there.

But the RIAA (sp) did some lawsuits and a bunch of kids got busted at the college level. With the internet anybody and everybody can track you....so she figures it's better to play it safe.

She also read that Carol Harris book called STORMS and it said Lindsey's got a temper. She figured he's not one to mess with.

Oddly enough, I dont own any Lindsey "Files" that are demos or outtakes. I dont think anything I have heard is quality. Its all subpar to what he would normally release. I dont mean lyrically or anything, its just nothing I've heard I've actually kept. Except of course, the cool stuff like the SoundStage show and his 1992 OOTC show.

Seriously, Does that mean you dont have the "Gift of Screws" Collection of songs?
