She's a Rainbow

According to a poster on the usenet newsgroup, Luke Arnott, Lindsey may have also covered the Stones' She's A Rainbow. This is one that wasn't among the leaked GOS tunes. If true, perhaps we'll see this one on the album....??

She's A Rainbow
By Jagger/Richards

She comes in colors ev'rywhere
She combs her hair
She's like a rainbow
Coming, colors in the air
Oh, everywhere
She comes in colors
She comes in colors ev'rywhere
She combs her hair
She's like a rainbow
Coming, colors in the air
Oh, everywhere
She comes in colors

Have you seen her dressed in blue?
See the sky in front of you
And her face is like a sail
Speck of white so fair and pale
Have you seen a lady fairer?

She comes in colors ev'rywhere
She combs her hair
She's like a rainbow
Coming, colors in the air
Oh, everywhere
She comes in colors

Have you seen her all in gold?
Like a queen in days of old
She shoots her colors all around
Like a sunset going down
Have you seen a lady fairer?

She comes in colors ev'rywhere
She combs her hair
She's like a rainbow
Coming, colors in the air
Oh, everywhere
She comes in colors

She's like a rainbow
Coming, colors in the air
Oh, everywhere
She comes in colors

Hmmmm...well, that's interesting. A "well-known" Stones tune covered. Cool! I wonder if Lindsey kept the "ooh-la-la, ooh-la-la-la-la"s from the Stones version???

Still awaiting a release of Lindsey's cover of Joni Mitchell's "Big Yellow Taxi"...just from the 30 sec clip that was well-distributed a few years ago, I can tell it was pretty good.

CarneVaca 11-07-2002 11:38 AM

I salivate just thinking about what Lindsey could do with the quirkiness of "She's a Rainbow." Don't tease us like that.

chiliD 11-07-2002 05:49 PM

Or just about anything the Stones did from "Flowers" to "Satanic Majesties Request"...

Hmmm, just from a songtitle standpoint, wouldn't "Child Of The Moon" from SMR fit on a Fleetwood Mac album???

I've never heard this song, but...

...it sounds stupid to me...I'm no Stones fan so I really don't like any of the covers Lindsey did on GOS, except She Smiled Sweetly, but it's really his delivery that I love so much about that one.

Just reading the lyrics to this rainbow song, I'm like WTH?? They bite. I'm hoping and praying to GOD that they don't cover ANY songs on the new album (but I'm sure they will). I'm like chilid with Come, PLEASE GOD, NO COVERS!! :distress::mad::(

I want Come on the album, I LOVE it to death, as well as Red Rover. PLEASE GOD, LET COME AND RED ROVER BE ON THERE!!:D

LOL! I've never heard the song either - I thought I was the only one who wasn't too impressed with the lyrics, although I suppose the music adds to them or something.

I'm with you, however, about the covers. When the GOS demos came out with so many RS covers I'm like "What's up with this?" I mean, sure, one, but he's got half a dozen! I'm sure he won't use all of them but I've got to wonder at his fascination with covering songs by them. Usually you pick a song to cover, it seems like he's picked a GROUP to cover!

I hope "Try for the Sun" is there and if they do a RS cover I'd love "Singer Not the Song." However, any more covers - especially from the same group! - is weird for an established band like Fleetwood Mac and I hope they don't go that route. Off the top of my head, I'm hard-pressed to think of anyone who covers 2 or more songs from the same group on an album, unless it's a deliberate take-off like Camper Van Beethoven's Tusk.

One Stone is plenty!

"She's A Rainbow" is a fantastic song, really. It would be interesting to hear what Lindsey did with it. :)

Thats cool..

that he picked such a known Stones song to do...Should be interesting to hear Linds' take of it...I wonder what Beatles song Lindsey would try to do a cover of if he wanted to?...Brian J.

Folks, let's not get too carried away. This remains in the realm of speculation. She's a Rainbow is one of my favorite Rolling Stones songs. I wouldn't mind seeing Lindsey cover something like Sweet Virginia either. Hell, I've got a whole list of Stones songs I could send him to cover. It's a fantastic song. If you haven't heard it, before you knock it, go give it a listen. You might change your mind. If you don't, go ahead and knock all you want.

Beatles?!?!? NO!!!!!!

PLEASE, NO! Not after hearing the debacle that was "Here Comes The Sun"!! YIKES!!!

Let's hope that IF he ever does another Beatle tune, he's in a better mental state...and he has the use of his entire studio &/or a full-band of backing musicians...not a solo acoustic thing.

Cristian 11-08-2002 08:42 PM

I think he should not do any more Beatles songs at all... I mean, I respected the "Here Comes The Sun" cover because it was him, and because it was for George... at the moment. But listening to it right now it seems... a debacle as you said.

Although he could do a mean "Don't Let Me Down" backed up by Stevie and of course the FM rhythm section... ;)

Of course I'd love to hear She's a Rainbow too, but I sort of like that the others that he's covered are really sort of forgotten old tunes that others perhaps wouldn't have noticed, but he did.

As an aside, National Public Radio was running a review of the Stones' new best of collection last week and the newly remastered back catalog. The review was a glowing one overall. The commentator talked about being able to hear stuff that he'd never heard before. Humorously, he also discussed how the remastering highlighted how very, very out of tune the Stones were on some of the older forgotten stuff. As it happens, to demonstrate this, he played a segment of The Singer Not the Song. It was excruciatingly out of tune musically and vocally in several places. I appreciated all over again that Lindsey would select that song and do to it what he did to it in his cover.

wondergirl9847 11-11-2002 07:45 PM

Well...

Carne, I took your advice and gave it a listen...the song bites, IMO. It sounds like a music box at times and the music overpowered Mick's voice...since I'm no fan of his anyways, I was actually happy about that. LOL Anywho, I hope Lindsey does NO covers (Rolling Stones...OR Beatles!!)!!

Skylark 11-12-2002 12:01 AM

She's a Rainbow!

Yikkkes!!!! :mad:Really Lindsey ...I know you've been very busy
since the wife and kids andall but...pleeasse...those lyrics
sound like a bar song when the Stones were stoned!;) :D
Mick said in an interview... just wait until you hear... the
Stones on the new album! Like that's really great! Yukkky!Sky;)

ps...Read the interview on Jessica's Official Lindsey Site!
