Three Stevie Songs Never Sung Live

What three Stevie songs that she never sang live would you die to hear?
  1. Violet and Blue
  2. Sable on Blonde
  3. Your Hand I Will Never Let It Go

I Don’t Want to Know (ugh I just KNOW someone’s going to point out the BN version)
That’s Alright
When I See You Again (because I actually think a reworked version of this would have went off very well live in the 2003-13 era but also because this would just be amusing as hell)

In Your Dreams 05-24-2023 01:39 PM

Long Way To Go
24 Karat Gold
Ooh My Love

Did you ever hear the 1994 tour rehearsal rendition of this? It really worked!

Yes to this great song — maybe during the 1994 tour OR the 1987 tour with cowboys Billy and Rick.

Ooh if I Don’t Want to Know doesn’t count, I’d be all over a live version of Long Way to Go. That song should’ve been more popular.

I thought it would’ve fit very well in 1982 to be honest. The Dallas-era country shtick was at its peak..Lindsey with that hat…they would’ve nailed it back then.

Now that would have to be with a string section. I haven't listened to that song in 6 years!

Mine are:
1. If You Ever Did Believe
2. Trouble in Shangri-La
3. Wide Sargasso Sea and My Heart (because I want to hear them equally...sorry David)

Long Way to Go
Ooh My Love
Doing the Best That I Can

Those are really good picks.
Now I have to pick something else!
But she has done Doing The Best That I can live before on that UK special. So I am throwing the red flag. You are disqualified from participation.

Nothing Ever Changes
Everybody Finds Out
The Highwayman

Believe it or not, I would say Sister Honey. Lying in all that slick funk is a hidden good track with a fairly good chorus. Bring Les in to do guitar where that stupid slide keyboard part is, have real drums and percussion, and make it a guitar based rocker...it would have been the best song on RAL. Instead its drowning in synth pop funk trends that is anything but Stevie.

I think Stevie said The Highwayman was rehearsed during the Don tour.

Sister Honey would be great. You had a great quote once to "wipe your Sister Honey" brilliant!
Do you think Some Become Strangers could get the same rock treatment live? Use bass instead of synth. Al Ortiz never gets a Darryl Jones moment!

Dang, you got me about Doing the Best That I Can. Well, I’m gonna make another selection- I think UnwindedDreams mentioned the Nightmare, and I agree that would sound good live. I think Sometimes It’s a Bitch is a good song and would also sound great live, but ultimately, I would choose No Questions Asked. I’ve grown to love that song, it’s one of her more unusual songs, lyrically it’s all over the place (kind of a trademark of hers) but a live version would have to have that incredible guitar that Rick Vito laid down for the song. It sounds more like a Stevie solo song than a Stevie FM song.

I agree Sister Honey would sound good live, especially as a set opener.

No Questions Asked and As Long As You Follow should’ve both been in the 1990 setlist!

Your picks surprised me because we have opposite Stevie solo tastes. But I applaud you seeing things the right way

BTW, Sister Honey would only work as a full rock edit version. Scrap all that funky, breakdancing, disco, funk crap. Les does an impeccable guitar solo. It would have been the perfect bouncy rocker. Instead its lost of the slick haze of 1985.

Wow, you have a good memory. I should trademark that quote

Its funny because I was reading once on a Stevie site many years ago possible meanings to Sister Honey. People were guessing it was secret lesbianism and Sister Honey had a sexual meaning (not letting your golden hair get in the way). I suppose I took it to another level.
