Let's play a little game. If you can remember, what was the first LP (or Cassette or CD) you EVER bought? Name it and post a photo of it.

My first one was the Best of the Bee Gees 1970. I was a foreign exchange student in Germany. I bought it not knowing how much money it cost.

When I got back to the USA, 1971? 1972?, I bought Cat Stevens Teaser and the Firecat. It was $3.33 and worth every penny.

Kinda scary but I don't ever recall purchasing an actual LP. I know I had some when I was a kid...some Disney stuff...a few Christmas albums. The first CD I recall buying was the Batman soundtrack...so that would've been in 1989.

INXS - Kick. Haha! I thought I was so cool. I bought it on cassette.

I bought two on the same day. I saved my money for so long...I was 9. It took a while. :lol:

I'm too young to buy LPs while they were popular, but the first CD I can remember myself buying was....[oh god I don't even remember this...]...probably...a Britney Spears or Backstreet Boys Cd....wow...I also oddly remember myself buying Now 4 in 2000...

The first LPs i bought were used Christine McVie and LB Law and Order....

Here's mine. 1978, I was 8 years old and had some birthday money so my mother took me shopping to our local department store called 'TSS' (which stood for 'Times Square Stores'). Nestled in a corner of TSS, was a standalone semi-independent shop called 'Record World'. I had a $10 dollar bill, and this is what I bought:

My sister Robin and I wore that record out, for sure. Everyday after school, we'd race home and play 'Grease' and pretend to be Sandy and Danny.

My first was back in the late 70s and it was classic Boston!!! Still one of my fave albums of all time!

Jeez, I'll have to think about the LP part, but I can remember who the first 45s were that I got. It was David Cassidy's "I Think I Love You" & Sonny's & Cher's "I Got You Babe". I still have them, well , I have all my 45s that I accumulated. The funny thing is my grandmother, God rest her soul, got me really into music. I must have been about 11 or 12 maybe & she bought be those 45s because my parents got me a little record player, but didn't get me any records. I played them until I wore them out. I didn't even know who Sonny & Cher were at that time, but I did know who David Cassidy was.

The GEORGE HARRISON & BEATLES (#1 Liddybuck ) reminded me that I had not only the red album but the blue one as well, and my friends managed to scratch the p--- out of it. NEVER LOAN OUT AN ALBUM! Those were double albums, right and were expennnnnnsive!

As for GREASE (petep9000) a generation later, my kids bought the VHS tape and managed to play it non-stop. And they pretended to be Danny and Sandy too! What a hoot!

BOSTON (dnightshade) -- September 1976 - More than a Feeling....I can hear it now. Had it in my collection, until some 9th grader stole it...I taught high school and lost a lot of albums that way.

As for KISS (BlueLamp64) I love your little headbanger or whatever that little animated dude is. My brother was big, big, big into KISS. He even tried to do the makeup. His favorite was the cat.

You guys have brought up so many good memories for me today....

Parents were like that. When he was 16, my husband got a car for his birthday from his folks .... but it didn't have an engine.
