What would John Mc Vie do?

Mike Mills of REM talks about recording Losing my Religion and it's John Mc Vie influence. Yes this should be in Mac Nuggets, but John deserves an appreciation thread.

John's bass work is incredible.

Child of Mine
Miles Away
Believe Me (Sausalito Soundboard)
Rhiannon
Go Your Own Way
YMLF
Little Lies
Temporary One
In My World
On With the Show

I also dig John's lyrical, bubbling bass part on the original version of Second Hand News. That Lindsey removed it and replaced it with a far less distinctive line was an uncharacteristically bad decision.

You rarely hear John Mc Vie get praise like the others in the band do, so it's nice to hear it from his peers.

He is the anchor of so many of my favorite Stevie songs.... Dreams, Rhiannon, Angel, come immediately to mind.... his playing knocks her songs up a notch that with all his wizardry Lindsey could not achieve if they were just Buckingham Nicks and which was often lacking in many of her solo records.
You don't even need any other instruments to play and his bass line alone tells you it's Dreams, for instance. Love you, John!

ETA: Bare Trees from the pre-BN era.

Oh YES
Bermuda Triangle live esp from that show
Incredible.

Even though the bass line in Dreams is relatively simple, its the entire mood of the song.

Glad someone else agrees with me on this! You could take vocal out of the song and still get a great musical experience, in large part because of the bass and drums.

Wow, there´s sooo many! Love John´s bassplaying, love John. Period. But a couple of my favourites has to be:

Temporary One
Go your own way
