On the Edge of 70 (new article)

John McVie (Christine’s ex-husband) and Mick Fleetwood also play on the album. Which begs the question: if Nicks had contributed, would it have been a Fleetwood Mac album? The band haven’t made an album since 2003’s Say You Will, so it feels like time...
‘It probably would have been, but I had just given three years to Fleetwood Mac [for the last tour] and I wanted two years off. And they decided to go into the studio and I said: “I’m not going. But you guys can do whatever you want.”’ Why didn't they all say that from Day One? |
Stevie sounds pretty over FM in this interview. It comes across as if she's ready to do a farewell tour with them and then continue her solo thing for the rest of her career.

Tho' there is no guarantee she'll record again I agree... At least that's what I'm hoping. Christine is still fresh being back and Lindsey wanted to record anything... Stevie just needs a break (from them) |

Instead, she didn't turn her back on the group that pretty much started it all for her professionally. Lindsey did, though. Followed by Christine. But they get passes  |

You are comparing apples and watermelons. Lindsey and Christine left the band. Period end of story. After the Dance she never toured or joined them in the studio. Both left the band. Stevie says she did not leave the band but refused to record an album with the band. She wants it both ways. She only wants to sing oldies on stage and not create new music with the band. She has one foot in and one foot out. Maybe they should have hired Sheryl Crow to replace Stevie on the new album. |

The last 30 years of this band has seen one of the three front liners take a break; first Lindsey, then Christine, now Stevie. Its strangely poetic... hopefully they will get it together again.

You made my point even stronger. It was not even remotely considered by the band to allow Christine to do this. If I remember correctly she was not even in for a full tour. She asked if she could join the tour in Europe only. The band was right to say.....you are IN or OUT. NO THANK YOU CHRISTINE. Now is it fair to ask....why the double standard? The band knows Stevie is a huge draw to their shows. Are they deep Fleetwood Mac fans? Probably not but its just reality. |

Stevie left the band too. or did she just choose to excuse herself from recording Time ... she didn't contribute or tour until the Dance either. Lindsey came and went as he pleased. just coz he didn't tour ... you can't lump him in with Christine. so it is you who is comparing 2 apples and christine. |

The Dance was a reunion. Lindsey, Stevie, and Christine (who had all left completely) reunited. Exactly Stevie did leave the band. And when she left, she left like Christine and Lindsey without recording or touring with the band. BINGO Another post makes my point stronger yet again. THANK YOU!!!!!!! |
