Bootlegs

PLEASE be TACTFUL-as I am sure this will be controversial.

My take: only trades or downloads! It's the only way for me!

BTW-this is also on the Stevie board if anyone is reading it twice or is interested in seeing the results there.

My take on this subject is as follows: I LOVE that we have these bootlegs. We get to hear live versions and alternate versions and demos and the like which is awesome. However, I have a problem with buying and selling bootleg videos and cds. 1. IMO since the artists (FM, Stevie, Lindsey, etc.) aren't getting and will never get any profits from the bootlegs, I deem it to be unfair for somebody to make a profit from the video or cd. 2. IMO since there are a bajillion FM/Stevie/Lindsey fans who trade cds and tapes, it would be fairly easy to find something that you really want without paying anybody anyway.
I tend to feel bad about having some of these demos though because they were NOT ever meant for us to have them (weren't Stevie's demos stolen from her?) We're sorta all guilty for this but it's kinda wrong to have this stuff when it was stolen (?!) or given away against their will. But I guess that's just the way it is.

To add, some people might say, "If you're so against everyone having demos, why do you have them to?" Well, to use an analogy, say you're a 6 year old. Suddenly, you have a huge pile of candy (or whatever) dumped in front of you. You are directed not to open any of the candy because it is not good for you to eat. Eventually, you eat the candy anyway because you LOVE candy (or whatever it is you like.) It's the same with these bootlegged cds/videos/mp3s that we have available to us.

I voted...

for not selling, But trading...I have had good offers for some of my demos/album remixes/etc (Lately my Beatles music...) but I still see no reason to make money off of them when I receive TONS of music in just trades alone, Brian J.
