It's fascinating, because it basically set off everything that happened with Lindsey's solo career from '98-'01ish. It created all sorts of discord, and directly contributed to the protracted delay for the album then known as "Gift Of Screws".

After Howie Klein- a huge ally of Lindsey's- left Reprise, David Kahne and Briggs stonewalled Lindsey, making unreasonable requirements/concessions to get the album out (ex. Sarah McLachlan on "Twist of Fate"). The label lost a ton of money promoting the abortion known as "Out Of The Cradle", and they weren't going to do a similar promotional roll out unless Lindsey played ball.

Of course, Lindsey opted to ride it out, and write songs about the experience (ex. "What's The World Coming To"). Kahne responded by dropping him and Fleetwood Mac from the label. They only chose WBR to release "Say You Will" because Kahne was long gone by this point, replaced with the much more artist-friendly Tom Whalley.

Exactly. For all we know, the credit for Kristen was probably added by a Lindsey fan who jumped to the same conclusions.

Damn straight!

Ah...I didn't know about all the label dealings...thanks for the info.

As for Briggs, I've heard Kristen was married to him too, so ... again, who knows?

I do think that was her in the movie, but I'm just going by the pics I've seen...wouldn't surprise me either way....I do think she took a few pics for WB but under the name "Kristen Briggs" ...

It is definately her in the movie. I don't care what the hell her name is on the credits.....she is the same girl as in LB's Behind the Music. Her voice is distinct and her face is not that generic that I cannot tell her from someone else. I used to have some side by sides of the screen caps from the movie with LB's BTM but my computer crashed a few years back and I lost them all. I know a few people who post on the board still have them so......;)
It also wasnt a fan who credited "Kristen Messner" in the film, I think it was an article or press release about the film. I don't give a **** what she does for a living, LOL, or er, what she does, I just think it is bizarre that she has her fingers in so much pie. :p

Again, agreed. I bet her bank account ain't hurting a bit...whatever name is on it!

Here is a link where they list her as "Kristen Messner".

I don't really know anything about her prior relationships/triangles and I couldn't explain the chronology of her many careers, or understand any of it for that matter. However...

I saw that "Shaking the Tree" film and it is definitely without a question of a doubt LB's Kristen in the film. She has the same voice, same lips, nose, overall expression...it's her. Plain and simple. I don't even need side-by-sides. It's the same chick from his BTM, from the snippet of The Dance, from all the mags, fan pics, album documentaries, every pic I've ever seen. Her face is just fuller, brows bushier, glow of youth still present...but that's her face.

What a stellar repertoire. I don't blame her for becoming a photographer. She must have been starving.

Which gets its information from All Movie Guide (http://www.allmovie.com/), a site where anyone can submit an addition/correction to any listing without much of a screening process. It's happened before (most notably the Mike Piazza/"Teen Wolf" IMDB hoax), and I'm sure that's what happened in this case too (accurate or not).

If she was in the movie, she used a pseudonym because she didn't want to be associated with the film. Either that, or she changed her name.

I know, right? Her part in the movie was stellar as well. :p I must say I am relieved others realize it is LB's Kristen in the flick.

Her name is also on the back of the dvd that was released a few years back..."Kristen Messner". I just have the old copy where her name was listed as Brittany Hansen or whatever she called herself, so I cannot post a copy. Other fans have the newer version of the dvd, I just do not have a picture to post at the moment. It really doesn't matter anyway, cause if you watch the film, there is no doubt. Personally, I don't give a **** what the hell she does....she just has quite a few careers. LOL Being married to LB provides perks.

I don't think she had an opportunity to cling, because Lindsey was clinging. They both had quite a lock on the other. That part where they were making out during the press conference was just gag inducing. Michele

I really don't understand the bitterness towards Kristen. She may well be a failed actress (although she's certainly not the first) and decided that she would be a photographer and then a interior designer, because she met someone with money. Maybe she even tricked Lindsey into marriage, or all those other stories I hear, but the fact is Lindsey is obviously pretty happy and content these days with her, which, I think, has helped him artistically.

LukeA 03-15-2009 12:02 AM

Without getting too psychoanalytical, Lindsey & Kristen are perfect for each other.

kak125 03-15-2009 12:17 AM

wow these stories are certainly interesting and it makes me like her less and less. who does she think she is acting that way at a concert? thats just ridiculous to act like she owns the freaking place.

I don't really sense too much bitterness on a whole. I don't have any. I think many people are just stating objective feelings about things, like what Kelly posted about her concert experience...I mean, that is uncalled for regardless of who she is or whom she is married to. People are people. And "regular folks" deserve just as much respect as wealthy, privileged folks...that's how my parents raised me anyway. I really, really think they have a genuinely happy marriage and truly gorgeous children. I think Lindsey is content, settled, and inspired. I think Kristen has provided a great deal of that for him, she's very lovely, and I encourage anymore she has to offer artistically, even her own GD poetry, as long as it means he's creating music and has it together.

I've always felt this way. She really seems cool and I basically have nothing against her. But in any incident where someone treats someone else like crap for no reason, I'm going to basically call them out whoever they are.

I reread my posts and don't think I was "bitter" towards Kristen, either. I just said it left a bad taste in my mouth after she shot me daggers when her kids stepped all over my Buckingham Nicks album and others coats.

As far as her being in a flick being an urban legend, I will try to upload her part in the film. It is small and I am technically challenged so it make take me a few days. :p I also do not know why Kristen messner would be credited as the same actress on the back of the dvd release. Who really cares if she had a small film part anyway? It is not like I am saying she did a porno.
