Say You Will - the last great Stevie Nicks Fleetwood Mac song?
Is Say You Will the last ever Stevie Nicks' Fleetwood Mac song, or single? Is it a fitting farewell to her recording career? I heard she wrote a song for Fleetwood Mac called "My Mother's Rings". What ever happened to that? Discuss. |
Say You Will is the last full studio album from the Mac so you could say this about every song on the album. Everyone Finds Out is the best song on the album IMHO

Say You Will is such a good and substantial record. It's occasionally uneven (I think the middle of it sinks in quality) but overall, I'm wowed by it.
Stevie really burned there. Illume, Throw Down, Destiny Rules, and especially Everybody Finds Out are my favorites--and they're among her best songs on any Mac record. But the title song is also so catchy. Even the songs I don't like (Silver Girl, Running Through Her Garden, and the last one) are still good. I'm disappointed with the production and performance of Smile at You, but that's only because we've heard better demos of it from earlier years. |

Since it came out I’ve thought it was too mechanical and heavy handed. There was no warmth to the production. It was glossy but not easy to listen to. The vocals from Stevie were not terrible but were so naked and exposed. They needed more reverb and mixed down a little. It’s like she swallowed the microphone and can hear every nodual and booger in her nose hole. She sounds best with old microphones standing further away. Also, LB let her SIT to record vocals NEVER sit to get your best vocal. Never!
Anyhow. Yes. SYW needed something. Or a few somethings. Too long. Not enough Christine. Too much guitar. Too glossy. |

'Thrown Down' is the last great Fleetwood Mac song featuring Stevie Nicks.
The 2003 album should have been called 'Destiny Rules'. It's a real shame if EP is the last contribution Stevie gives to Fleetwood Mac. I love 'Say You Will'. The singles should have been: What's The World Coming To Thrown Down Steal Your Heart Away Bleed To Love Her Destiny Rules Peacekeeper My resequenced track list: What's The World Coming To Thrown Down Steal Your Heart Away Silver Girl Bleed To Love Her Say You Will (Alternate Mix from the Deluxe Version, Disc 2, Guitar Intro) Miranda Smile At You Come Illume Murrow Turning Over In His Grave Peacekeeper Destiny Rules Say Goodbye Goodbye Baby Moved Red Rover, Running Through The Garden, and Everybody Finds Out to solo Albums. Lastly, there is a thread on this site that has a remix of Thrown Down, and it is absolutely brilliant! |
The only song on this album I ever listen to is Running Through the Garden. As much as I loved the album when it came out, it hasn't held up for me. I agree with what others have said about the production. It's also uneven, both in terms of style and quality of the songs. A lot of Stevie's contributions are just not very good, IMO. Lindsey has some good stuff on here, but also some clunkers. You can tell that the two of them did not enjoy working together on this album.

Just my opinion but Gypsy was the last great Stevie Mac song. I would rank Throwm Down as next in line.
