House for sale

I have to say, imo, that Kristen did a LOT better on this seller house than the first one which they inhabited themselves.

I Won't Lay Down For Free

Nice place.

Macfan4life 06-17-2017 06:39 AM

Amazing
But I'll pretend to be one of those goons on the show House Hunters.
The rooms are kinda small and good God those countertops have to go. The appliances are so outdated. I cant even stand to look at that paneling on the ceiling. The pool is nice but sort of on the small side.

BLY 06-17-2017 07:30 AM

A little to " White" for my taste. Ok for a few rooms but a bit much.

$22 million?

7.75 bathrooms?

I get that a "half bath" is a toilet, but what the heck is a quarter bath? Or is it a three-quarter bath?

Oops, DUP post.

This home has 3 half bathrooms, which in America is usually a toilet and sink (same room) often near entertaining areas (guest washroom). No shower or bathtub.

There are also homes with three-quarter bathrooms, which are toilet, sink and shower in one room. We have one of those-it lacks a tub so is sometimes called a three-quarter not a full bathroom (4 parts: toilet, sink(s), shower, tub). It's all in one room, one door. We have another with a separate toilet within the larger washroom and so on.

In my time in America I haven't encountered as many separate toilet rooms (where the toilet is separate, shower separate etc) as in other parts of the world.

I've been accompanying house-hunting friends as they look for a place in LA. We saw the listing for this house and on a lark we checked it out, at least from the outside. At an ask of $22.5 million, they didn't even try and schedule an appointment to see the inside. I have to say though it looked rather smaller than expected in person.

Enjoy!

Trying again. Is this to finance his new album/tour?

http://www.latimes.com/business/real...115-story.html

Following a six-month hiatus, Lindsey Buckingham has put a newly built home in Brentwood back on the market at its original $22.5 million asking price. That’s one way to refresh a listing.

The longtime Fleetwood Mac member bought the property five years ago for $5.8 million, but the new build was completed last year.

The modern Georgian-style three-story house has wood-shingle siding, dormer windows and white trim that pops against the light brown exterior.

The white-walled interiors include formal living and dining rooms, dual kitchens, a library, six bedrooms and 10 bathrooms. A screening room features a marble-topped bar and screening room.

A guesthouse sits across from the swimming pool for a total of close to 11,000 square feet of living space. Terraces, a fire pit, an outdoor shower, lawns and mature landscaping complete the three-quarter acre of grounds.

Buckingham, 68, gained fame as the frontman and lead guitarist for the British American rock band Fleetwood Mac. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the group in 1998. As a solo artist, he has released nine albums.

David Offer of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties is the listing agent.

haha i was thinking exactly the same - needs some money, a good sign that he's thinking solo tour and needs to finance it!

maybe just a toilet without a vanity? ;)

I just don't get property prices some times. $22.5 million- that's about £13 million. Christine struggled to sell her beautiful mansion in Kent for £3 million. I guess its all about location.
Lindsey's place is nice... but is it $22.5 million nice????
...and for that sort of price I'd expect some decent front gates...not those sh**ty old things.

bombaysaffires 01-17-2018 01:24 PM

a three-quarter bathroom is a toilet, sink, and shower. A full bath has a tub and a shower (can be tub/shower combo or separate tub and shower).

If a house doesn't sell, it means that buyers don't see the value of the house for the price the seller is asking. It means your price is too high.

To re-list the house again with no change in price is a sign of seller denial, and I'm more than willing to bet their agent wanted them to come down a bit. However, they took FOREVER to renovate this house-- over 4 years, and no expense was spared on the interior details and all the staging furniture etc. Too much, IMHO. They have HELLA costs to recoup on this house-- the carrying costs (i.e., the mortgage payments) for FOUR YEARS is insane. I mean, he's LB, maybe they paid cash for the original and had no financing costs, but that's tying up a sh&t ton of money for all that time at a lot of risk.

I think she went overboard with this one-- my guess is the goal was to get lots of editorial (i.e., magazine spreads) coverage to boost her profile as a designer. Not sure how well that worked.

In the original listing it hyped his wife as well as him, now that they're re-listing they talk only about him, clearly hoping the celebrity connection will help sell it. I'm betting they will need to drop the price or this will continue to sit. The longer a house sits, the more it generates a reputation as a white elephant in the real estate community, and the fewer people are willing to touch it. My bet is this will eventually have to sell at a significant price reduction.

well, the fact that no one has bought it for the asking price tells you many people agree with you ;)

I gotta admit many of the comments dovetailed with a lot of my thoughts on that house.

The one currently up for sale, though, is really gorgeous. Not entirely my taste (not a fan of the resurgence of gold fixtures) but overall really nice.

Lindsey Buckingham Is Leaving Fleetwood Mac—and a Brentwood Mansion
By Morgan Halberg • 04/10/18 1:30pm

Lindsey Buckingham is out of Fleetwood Mac—again.
Dia Dipasupil/Getty Images

Lindsey Buckingham isn’t having the best week. The musician has, once again, exited Fleetwood Mac, a band that has assembled and dismantled more times than we can keep track of. But this time, Buckingham didn’t leave of his own volition; he was reportedly fired from the group as they prepare to go on tour this coming fall. Cue the Go Your Own Way and Rumours puns.

“Lindsey Buckingham will not be performing with the band on this tour,” Fleetwood Mac announced on Monday evening. “The band wishes Lindsey all the best,” remaining members, Stevie Nicks, Mick Fleetwood, John McVie and Christine McVie, added. We’re not sure just how much we believe that last part.

These statements confirmed days of suspicion over the fate of the band, following a tweet from former Fleetwood Mac guitarist, Billy Burnette. “Breaking news: Lindsey Buckingham is out but I’m not in,” he wrote on April 4. He subsequently deleted the tweet, but it seems Burnette is still bitter he wasn’t chosen to replace Buckingham. Mike Campbell of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and Neil Finn of Crowded House will be joining the upcoming tour, instead.

We still don’t know why, exactly, Buckingham was removed from Fleetwood Mac—he originally joined in 1975 along with Nicks, his then-girlfriend. He decided to leave the band in 1987 in the midst of some drama, but rejoined a decade later, in 1997.

He did find someone to take his massive Brentwood home off his hands, though. Berkshire Hathaway

There is some good news for Buckingham! The guitarist finally found a buyer for his custom Brentwood home, which he’s been trying to part with for nearly a year. He built this abode from the ground up, after he paid a mere $5.8 million for the property in December 2012 and promptly razed the existing house. He spent four years constructing the current 11,192-square-foot mansion, which he put on the market in June 2017 for a staggering $22.5 million.

Alas, Buckingham wasn’t able to catch a buyer, and the shingled six-bedroom, 10-bathroom residence, described as a “Modern Georgian estate” by listing broker David Offer of Berkshire Hathaway, lingered. Buckingham eventually delisted the house in November 2017, before deciding to relist it again in early January 2018. Oddly enough, he didn’t change the price tag even a dollar.

Where’s the recording studio? Berkshire Hathaway

He finally lowered his expectations in February, but not by much—he discounted the price to $19.995 million. That was enough to capture an interested party, as the home appears to have snagged a pending offer in late March.

The house has oversized custom windows and millwork throughout, as well as a formal living room and dining room. One of the entertaining rooms features a grey marble bar, as well as a marble fireplace.

Really hoping a Fleetwood Mac fan bought the house. Berkshire Hathaway

The eat-in kitchen has white tile backsplash and opens to a family room. There’s also a separate catering kitchen. A cozy theater space is currently furnished with comfy armchairs, and there’s also a library and a gym.

Outside, there’s a guest house and a cabana by the pool, which is surrounded by bluestone terraces. In addition, the backyard contains an outdoor fireplace and shower, as well as a fire pit and barbecue.

Fleetwood Mac sure loves Brentwood. Berkshire Hathaway

While there’s no shortage of luxe attributes, we’re surprised there isn’t a recording studio. However, it is possible that Buckingham never intended to actually reside in this particular home.

In fact, Buckingham and his wife, Kristen Messner, own a number of properties elsewhere in Brentwood, including an 8,051-square-foot home purchased in late 2005. In June 2014, the couple bought another residence, on the very same street. This could make for some awkward neighborhood run-ins—last year, John McVie also scooped up a $6.8 million house in Brentwood area.

tiny stucco 1000 sq ft houses on the west side of LA go for 1.2 million, so it's all relative.

If you can smell the ocean in LA, your house is worth at least a million.
