Rock A Little Deluxe Wishlist

Hello all! I haven't been on here in a hot minute, and today I was listening to my LP of Rock A Little. Hopefully soon Rhino will announce a deluxe edition of this album. What would you all want on it? This is my wishlist.

DISC 3: Full Unreleased Red Rocks Concert

~

I would also adore a DVD of the Red Rocks Concert, however, this seems unlikely, as the Bella Donna Show just had an audio copy. What do you all think?

Macfan4life 07-25-2017 03:56 PM

Nice but you forgot the ONLY RAL era song that I love - Running through the Garden.
Any deluxe re-release should include this unreleased gem.
I despise the Red Rocks lip sync video concert. I would love a live CD of any other show.

I second this!

I would love an audio version of the complete Red Rocks show, but more than likely, any RAL deluxe edition would only include an audio of the actual DVD version. Disappointing, as it would be awesome to hear I Can't Wait live.

I love it when the Ho Ho's mocked the Red Rocks video. Such talent. They had the good Stevie and the bad Stevie. If anyone has not seen it...check it out here.

I'd like a Deluxe RAL to be structured more or less like this:

Disc 1: Remastered original album
Disc 2: RAL Alternate album (alternate and/or extended versions of the songs)
Disc 3: Unreleased outtakes and demos
Disc 4: Unreleased RAL soundboard material or complete unedited and remastered Red Rocks DVD.

I'd like to hear:
- The collaboration with Prince
- Freestyle with Les Dudek
- Stevie's version of Baby Don't Lose Your Heart
- Battle of the dragon
- Priest of nothing
- Mirror mirror
- Night gallery
- Whole lotta trouble.

I think it was a monumental feat - for the producer/editor - to create that DVD. The amount of editing that was done for both the audio and video is staggering. All the video editing is apparent, but what most people don't know is that the audio switches between the dubbed vocals and the actual live performance.

Darn. I saw this thread and got my hopes up that something official had been announced. :(

Aaaaaaaaaaaanyway...I'm also a cheerleader for the inclusion of "Something Exquisite", even if it's only a pristine sounding quality of one of the two outtakes already in circulation. The song is complete - we just don't have a good quality version.

Also, yes yes yes to the inclusion of "Running Thru The Garden"!!! :blob2:

"Night Gallery" is a bit of a mess in demo form, yet still one of my absolute favorites, lyrically and melodically - its simplicity is part of its strength. If she ever attempted to record it with a band during the "Rock A Little" sessions, I'd love to hear the outtakes. If not, I hope she attempts to record it on her next album. If she can turn "Mabel Normand" into something cohesive, catchy and fun, imagine what she could do with "Night Gallery"!

No doubt it was quite the task. I think its so bad that its good if you know what I mean. It was pretty daring to say the least to pull something off like this. Different hair for the lip sync close ups, etc.
Live in concert is supposed to be mean live in concert in my book ;)
It crazy that they could not get her for ONE night and say.....no coke, no alcohol, no smoking, fix the hair and make up and carry off a concert without having to do all the re-takes.
