Nothing Without You

Why does this song sound so firmilar??...Was it recorded years ago?...Maybe by Delaney & Bonnie???...

Hmm...

I'm not entirely sure but I think it was first recorded on a Delaney Bramlett (without Bonnie) album, possibly his 1975 MGM album "Giving birth to a song" (and obviously some bits and pieces would have been changed for the "Time" version (hence her writing credit on the "Time" version) as it's unlikely Bekka would have taken part in the writing of it back then) but I don't know for certain if that's the Delaney album it's on though but I'm sure I did hear somewhere that Delaney had recorded this song originally back in the 70's on his own. Sorry I couldn't provide better info on this but hopefully we can find out for sure about this one way or the other soon. :)

Yes, it's definitely from a Delaney Bramlett solo album (Steve MacDougall over at alt.music.fleetwoodmac newsgroup would know, he's a big Dave Mason/Delaney & Bonnie and Friends fan.)

I seem to recall Steve saying that Billy Burnette was a part of that same Delaney solo album that "Nothing Without You" is on. But, on that point I could be mistaken.

In any case, it DEFINITELY would fit seamlessly on any old Delaney & Bonnie and Friends album.

I got to thinkin'...maybe it wouldn't have been a bad idea for Mick & John to have asked Eric Clapton to join Fleetwood Mac back in 1994...and INTENTIONALLY gone for that D&B type sound...reinvent the band, not rest on laurels.

{chuckle} Nah...Delaney's solo albums sold in fewer numbers than "Time" did.
