It´s always interesting to read about the immediate post-FM period.

I think this issue would have been on the stands around May, so written sometime before he had properly left. It sounds like the writer had contact with the rest of the band.

Access like this to original “contemporary” articles allows us to see where Celmins drew much of his material from (uncredited) –
I found Green’s comments about ‘Oh Well’ particularly interesting – his disappointment that people did not understand his intent with the number –
It seems as if the riff is simply too overpowering – I think it is safe to say that that is what has drawn the wide range of cover versions over the years – not the song’s “message” – it would be interesting to see if anyone could come up with an arrangement, and more importantly, a vocal approach to highlight Green’s original idea

BklynBlue makes a good point about "Oh Well", and I find it interesting to see the mention in the article of Green's visit to the Munich commune as just one of a series of events that formed his thinking at the time, rather than the decisive break with the past that popular myth has perpetuated.

It seems like he was impressed positively by the communally living folks in Munich, and probably elsewhere. It's what was happening and being looked at at the time. Some of the people north of San Francisco wanted to live outside of the personal possessions and the money system entirely, and there are still people all around on the west coast who engage in barter systems for as much as possible. A fair number of British folk musicians had been going that way, didn't Donovan buy a Scottish island, and even the Beatles were looking at some island in Greece? The music business can be very repellant too. ;)
