Favorite Music Decade
So, which one is it?
For me, I totally love the 80's. BIIIGGG fan of 80's hair metal- the guitars are ridiculous! |
I adore almost everything about the '70s... the music, movies, art, architecture, clothing, etc. The one holdout for me regarding the '70s is the cars... it was an abysmal time for the automobile. :distress:

Tough call between the 70's and 80's for me.
|
Tie between 40's & 60's.

'20s thru the '50s for me. That's when all the great pop standards were written, plus the blues & jazz genres were fully perfected during that time. I like a lot of post-Beatles rock & pop, but if you ask me to pick between pre-rock blues & jazz, and the rock & pop of the '60s and after, I'm gonna go with the pre-rock stuff every time. It's infinitely more interesting & satisfying to me in every way.

The 80's...
because that was the era when I decided to find music of my own taste that wasn't anything that my parents or siblings had listened to...
Besides, I was the person in high school who had to give reviews of the concerts I have seen the previous night to many a friend - even if I couldn't hear what was asked to me  |
1960's for folk-rock revolution! This was the decade of great pop albums, Beach Boys, Motown, Velvet Underground, the start of Zeppelin, rock 'n roll and psychedelic tunes, unapologetic peace anthems. Everything seemed so experimental, however, true, like songs of the '60s had to be sung.

90s.

I'm totally a sixties baby

Misplaced 70's child over here! Totally should have born in the late 50's so I could have been old enough to fully appreciate the 60's blues boom and 70's punk.
|
70's folks! Aside from some of my favorite bands getting started (Van Halen, Iron Maiden, etc.), others in their heyday (Led Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac, etc.), and even some making their best material (The Who, among others I can't quite think of right now lol), it was a great decade.
A runner-up would be the 80's. Great metal (thrash metal, New Wave of British Heavy Metal, even some hair metal) and you gotta love the pop from then too. |
Once I would've said the 80s, but now I'd have to say the (late) 60s, as I've fallen in love with psychedelic and progressive rock. :)

For me it's 60's and 70's. Even 80's had some really good stuff. After that it's all spotty. a couple good 90's bands. 00's for me is REAL spotty..pretty bare for me. Although one of my fav albums is fromm this past decade. John Mayer's Continuum
