Covers of Chris Songs

I thought it might be an interesting thread starter if we were able to compile a list of artists who have covered songs written by Christine McVie.

I'll give one:

Stephanie Mills: "Oh Daddy"

I'd love to see more...

Eva Cassidy - Songbird
Chaka Khan - Everywhere
Annie McLoone - Spare Me A Little Of Your Love
Cyndi Lauper - You Make Loving Fun
KC & The Sunshine Band - Don't Stop

Nicks Fan 03-08-2007 06:23 PM

Tori Amos:Songbird

macfan 57 03-08-2007 07:09 PM

Willie Nelson-Songbird
Elton John-Don't Stop

Leo Kottke - World Turning
Natalie Cole - Oh Daddy
Rita Coolidge - Songbird

And, all the songs of hers on Tusk were covered by Camper Van Beethoven (since they covered the entire album)

Aha, maybe it was Natalie Cole that I'd heard singing Oh Daddy, not Stephanie Mills.

Chaka? For reals? If you do not lie to me, you may have made my year.

Tis true. I have it lying around somewhere, I will post it soon if someone doesn't beat me to it :)

post it! post it!

I'd also love to hear the Annie McLoone version of "Spare Me", and Cyndi Lauper's "You Make Lovin' Fun," which has to be better than Jewel's version on that awful Rumors Tribute record.

For what it's worth, I also remember some band from about five or six years ago doing "Everywhere." Heard it in a cafe in NYC. It had a kind of "electronica" feel to it. Don't know who it was...anyone?

I thought the Rumours: Legacy tribute album was pretty good, EXCEPT for:

Elton John's "Don't Stop"

and the WORST offender:

Duncan Sheik's "Songbird".

Why they just didn't use Eva Cassidy's version just boggles my mind.

The Cranberries' version of "Go Your Own Way", Matchbox 20's "Never Going Back Again" and the Goo Goo Dolls' "I Don't Want To Know" are the album's highlights for me.

Duncan Sheik's "Songbird" was almost criminal.

I usually don't care much for covers by my favorite artists, but I thought "Dreams" by that Irish band was pretty good.

The Coors - yes that was pretty good.

Even my nephew liked that one (although I think that did have something to do with Andrea Coor seemingly wearing little more than a handkerchief in the video!)
