MOVIES you watched this week? (DVD)

I watch a lot of movies, so I thought I'd start a thread where we
list the recent movies we've rented.

This week's movies....

Australia (good).
The Secret Life Of Bees (pretty good).
Wanted (ok, at best).
Nights in Rodanthe (a bad version of Message In A Bottle).
WALL-E (disappointing).
The Dark Knight (good, better than expected).

So what did you watch this week?

Villavic 03-13-2009 06:46 AM

Nothing new, I watched Andrew LLoyd Webber´s Phantom of the Opera

David 03-13-2009 08:53 AM

I watched "Cimarron" (remake), which was so much gunk.

eclipse 03-13-2009 10:50 AM

Not feling well

Have not ben feeling well-so it's a great time to lay on the couch and watch movies, and shows...We have a DVR so I can tape shows also and Comcast has a pay per view $4.99 that seems like a fair price-
Anyway, I have watched 4 episodes of HOUSE as well as CSI-Vegas, so now I am caught up.

Movies:

The Happening-unimpressed scary but silly too, at least you can look at "Marky-Mark haha"

An American Haunting- Very good older movie Sissy Spacek, Donald Sutherland
scary, edge of your seat movies I love those, not tat slashers

88- Al Pacino- Excellent edge of your seat movie, Highly recommend

Rightous Kill- Pacino and DiNiro, again excellent edge of your seat-

Glasss House- older film , Lealee Sobinski (SP) spooky atmosphere, drama, it was good.

I got lucky on my choices

LikeAWillow 03-19-2009 09:23 PM

Great movie. I saw the live musical at the Dorothy Chandler LA Music Center in the 80's. 17 year old Emma Rossum was fantastic. I wonder what ever happened to her? Anybody ever see her in another film?

I haven't seen it yet, but I'm interested in renting it. Let us know what you think.

yeah but it's not for everyone. Didn't like the bits with Richard gere much, just didn't think his bits worked.

stupid me didnt know it was going to be a sad movie so when it got towards the end i was like oh no! then they dragged it out for so long that i couldnt help myself. when the lights came up i noticed a lot of young kids were there and they were all in tears. i guess they didnt know it was going to be sad as well.

That happened to me when I went to see My Girl!

BellaDonna93 03-20-2009 01:25 PM

Not that many movies but Hannibal yesterday. Then some tv-series like Ghost Whisperer and Medium :) And some swedish tv series like Andra Avenyn :) Best serie ever!

I love Medium!!!

I watched Rachel Getting Married and Happy-Go-Lucky. Always good to see movies with strong female leads that aren't merely romcoms.

Ghost Whisperer is heaven...although I've missed so many, I don't know where they're at on the Jim storyline anymore :(

Sahara 03-20-2009 07:01 PM

I saw Casino Royale and Swordfish for the first time this week.
Casino Royale -- brilliant in every sense, Daniel Craig is a fantastic Bond and I've been listening non-stop to the theme song all week.
Swordfish -- very enjoyable but the ending really confused me. :o!

fleetwoodtrick 03-20-2009 07:37 PM

I watched the original Beauty in the Best on Youtube. I don't speak French, so I had to go with YT subtitles! Plus, I don't know if it's even been released to DVD. I love old French movies (why, I don't know!). It was also pretty cool that this movie sparked Stevie's idea for BATB. That was my main reason for watching it.

JWS 03-21-2009 12:24 PM

Anybody see "Knowing" yet? The review said "you don't want to know"

There was a really nice release of it on the Criterion Collection label a few years ago. It might still be in print.

iamnotafraid 03-23-2009 08:14 PM

A few more movies.....

Twighlight, Aren't vampire movies supposed to be scary?
Did anybody esle laugh when they did the "piggyback ride" up the
mountain? Or the tree climb? If those parts had been left on the
cutting room floor, it would have been a better movie.

Righteous Kill, With two of my favorite actors Pacino and
De Niro I expected more. I found it a bit boring. Maybe if they'd
played these roles about fifteen years ago it would have been more
believable.

Fireproof, A good Christian message with this movie. But the
acting was bad overall.

Spiritinthesky 03-24-2009 03:53 PM

Two great films. Gran Torino and Slumdog Millionaire.

Both great films.

Quantum Of Solace, Amazing! If you have a good home theatre
system, this is the movie to rent. Best sounding movie I've ever heard.
Daniel Craig is BOND! I think I'll watch it again tonight before I have to
send it back.

SortaSavageLike 03-24-2009 06:39 PM

Das Boot. The entire five hour television version in German with English subtitles - but not in one sitting. You don't just watch that movie - you conquer it it. Seriously - I watched it yesterday and I'm still exhausted. And it's such a great chick flick, too!

(Not really...)

Forgot to mention that I listened to it in DTS 5.1
Try that option if you have it.

DavidMn 03-25-2009 12:40 AM

I enjoyed a doubleheader last night of Total Recall and Die Another day.:)

LukeA 03-25-2009 03:43 AM

"Death To Smoochy" has been on HBO a lot recently. I highly anticipated this movie for months prior to its release, and while I was disappointed when it first came out, its only gotten better on repeated viewings. Its flawed, but its a great dark comedy.

skcin 03-25-2009 12:46 PM

Ghost Town (?) with Ricky Gervais. Mildly amusing.

kak125 03-25-2009 01:17 PM

I just watched Deception with Hugh Jackman, Ewan Mcgregor and Michelle Williams. It was a damm good movie.

Ghost_Tracker 03-25-2009 05:17 PM

Starting in on the "Godfather" trilogy this week.
Gonna take a while - There's a total of like 8 and a half hours!

JazmenFlowers 03-25-2009 09:56 PM

^^^
I have the trilogy. everyone was in awe that I had not ever seen it so I got it. I've only watched the first one and it was good...long, but good. I still don't really get it I guess.

I did buy Twilight and even though I saw it in the theater I watched it twice. I'm about halfway through New Moon now.

iamnotafraid 03-26-2009 02:28 AM

and the list continues......

Flash Of Genius, pretty good movie, a little boring at times.

Appaloosa, Just horrible. What was Renee Zellweger thinking?

BTFLCHLD 03-26-2009 11:00 AM
