A TADLEY guitarist, who has played with some of the musical greats, is today releasing a new album worldwide – and part of the profits will go to a local charity.

Dave Reece, above, of Crookham Close, is releasing rock album ‘As we stood before tomorrow’ through label Acorn Music.

Dave, who is a guitarist, songwriter and private guitar teacher, has had success with his previous album ‘Clown for the day’, from which tracks received international airplay and were used for a BBC documentary.

He has previously performed with Eric Clapton and Peter Green, founder of Fleetwood Mac – the band which Dave’s cousin Christine McVie used to sing with.

He said his latest album, which is available to download online, is influenced by songwriters including Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen.

He added: “From the age of four, I knew that all I wanted to do was play the guitar, and at 17 I became a professional musician and songwriter.”

A total of 25 per cent of profits from sales of the album will be donated to Wessex Cancer Trust, a charity which provides local cancer care support services for patients and families living with cancer across Hampshire, Dorset, Wiltshire, and beyond.The charity offers both practical and emotional support.

Some of you may have seen my design of Songbird aka the Christine pony cube I wanted to have made. Now she's here, and has been for the past couple of weeks, and it really looks like her. :D

The mother notes that Chatelaine is her favourite magazine, "It's for the more sophisticated woman," and we immediately know exactly who she is. Edmund's decorating and fashion choices speak volumes while Joel and Binny's sexual and musical - Christine McVie over "goat lady" Stevie Nicks - explicate exactly who they are. Of course the mother does also lapse into one-liner drag speak - "Do you like my wig? Do I look like Ann-Margaret or a dying clown?" - but by then she is family and we indulge her.

There haven't been as many great songwriters in a band since Fleetwood Mac. (Christine McVie being the best in the bunch, you Nicks loving fools.) They also put on an excellent show. I saw them for almost every tour. ...except the one where they opened for The Fray. I just couldn't bear to see them open for one of the ****tiest bands ever. I... I just couldn't. It was just one of those injustices in the industry. The better, less popular band opening for a ****ty new band, playing stadiums after having a major radio hit. It just isn't right. ...and The Fray have an album full of the same Coldplay rip-off song re-written over and over again. May they drown in a fire.

Someone involved in this Chilton County high school loves Christine. Two of the songs they perform in their "Blast From the Past" show are hers. One is Got A Hold On Me.

FR: We were listening to a lot of Chicken Shack at the time, which were Stan Webb on guitar and Christine McVie – though she was Christine Perfect at the time – of early Fleetwood Mac, Taste, coupled with all the Little Richard and some of that 50s stuff we drifted through. We would sit by the side of the stage and Chicken Shack would start, “2... 3... 4... dunk du dunk du dunk du dunk” and an hour and a half later they’re still doing it. And we’re thinking, “This is ****ing great! Why aren’t we doing this?”

Martha Velez has lived a storied life.

"I've been so, so blessed," she said.

Velez reflected on a career that has unfolded with a series of serendipitous turns — a folk singing stint with the Gaslight Singers in the mid 1960s, a stint in the Broadway musical Hair, a recording a blues-rock gig with then-session musicians Eric Clapton and Christine McVie, and a handful of albums including Escape From Babylon produced by Bob Marley. She landed in Los Angeles after the release of her 1975 album, American Heartbeat, and ended up with a regular role on Falcon's Crest and a small part in the 1993 movie Father Hood starring Patrick Swayze and Halle Berry.
