Songs That Sound Like Fleetwood Mac

The song that initiated this thread for me is Dreamworld by Rilo Kiley. I kind of always felt it had the sound but I hadn't heard it in a long time. Listening to it today really made the light bulb go off in my head. It totally sounds like something Lindsey would have done with the band in recent years.

I always heard a lot of LB influence on this:

This song was a straight up rip of "Dreams" at the time.

Mika - Origin of Love (Mika said he wanted to say “I love you” like Fleetwood Mac)

I always get Mac, or more specifically, Lindsey vibes from one of my favorite bands American Analog Set and the frontman's side project Wooden Birds, in terms of songwriting & the minimal, quirky-pop aspects of the production

My brother is a big Death Cab For Cutie fan, I hear some Mac in them for sure. I love Phoenix (so does Lindsey!) and I hear a lot of him in them as well.

I first heard this in a shop not long after I jumped on the Mac bandwagon. I thought at first it must be a Stevie solo track.

interesting observation, especially considering that Lindsey once casually floated the idea of bringing Jenny Lewis into Fleetwood Mac, to replace Stevie Nicks who was throwing the wrenches in every creative project the other 4 wanted to do.

I wish that happened.

I don't see it but it's okay Maneskin

This Italian rock band's hit from last summer apparently was composed having as references John Frusciante/Red Hot Chili Peppers for the guitar and Stevie Nicks/Fleetwood Mac for the voice:

This cover band sounds really close to the real thing.

It’s a Neil Young song from his album COMES A TIME. It sounds nothing like the Mac in the original. Nicolette Larsen (who sang backup on that album) liked it and asked if she could use it to launch her solo career. As a fixture on the California rock scene, it’s not surprising that she chose the song to be arranged with that slick glossy feel we hear in later Doobie Brothers and all Christopher Cross records. But the song itself was not created by Young for this purpose.

Inversely, the first time I heard “Welcome to the Room Sara” I thought the arrangement was an homage to the 10,000 Maniacs!

I have one that will blow you away. TLC Unpretty. Back in the late 90s, Stevie heard the song and instantly loved the Fleetwood Mac sound and feel to the song. I read Stevie's quote before really paying attention to the song. Stevie is so right. I posted the music track without any singing. Its vintage Lindsey and almost has a Tusky quality beat. I totally get what Stevie was saying. If you remember, Stevie loved the song so much that she hired TLC's producer to produce TISRL before Sheryl came aboard and messed it all up
Even the guitar sounds very much like a Lindsey track.
Take a listen

I Need You by the Beatles sounds like something Christine would write and George's guitar riff sounds like something Lindsey would've done in the 80's. Just goes to show how ahead of their time they were.
