Foo Fighters, Lindsey Buckingham, Michael Stipe & more supporting Planned Parenthood voting campaign Foo Fighters, ex-Fleetwood Mac guitarist Lindsey Buckingham and R.E.M.'s Michael Stipe are among many artists supporting a newly launched voting campaign organized by the Planned Parenthood Action Fund. The initiative addresses the recent Senate confirmation of Justice Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court. According to The New York Times, the conservative judge signed an ad in 2006 calling to overturn Roe v. Wade, the landmark 1973 Supreme Court decision that ruled that abortion was protected under the U.S. Constitution. Barrett was officially confirmed on Monday, just eight days before the coming November 3 elections. She takes the seat left by women's rights advocate Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who died on September 18 at age 87. "After the rushed confirmation of Justice Amy Coney Barrett, we must band together," reads a statement from Planned Parenthood. "We know how our elections have the power to change the direction of this country, and this year we are voting for the freedom to control our bodies, our health and our future." Other artists who've signed in support include Beastie Boys, Beck, Billie Eilish, Halestorm, Jimmy Eat World, Sonic Youth's Kim Gordon, L7, Nine Inch Nails and Billie Eilish, Jane's Addiction frontman Perry Farrell, Queens of the Stone Age, T Bone Burnett, Tenacious D, The B-52s and Weezer. One would think female artists who insist they "fought" for Roe v Wade would be part of something like this...

Pleasantly surprised Lindsey was name-dropped in the title alongside Foo Fighters and Michael Stipe. I'd have thought there'd be others on the list with more name recognition- Nine Inch Nails? Beastie Boys? Indeed, Billie Eilish is that prominent she's even listed twice.

More whining from the left and msm (ABC), I see. Rushed confirmation? Haha, not really. Sad in 2020, people are still using abortion for birth control. So sad, with everything available to humans BEFORE conception and even after with a morning after pill there is no excuse for this barbaric practice. Maybe humans need to be smarter, more advanced and certainly more responsible. Just as the article states "this year we are voting for the freedom to control our bodies, our health and our future." -- Well, then be sure to use birth control and the morning after pill to avoid the very unpleasant suction.

that would have been his mother's business, and none of ours.
Lindsey could also have been sadly killed in the Viet Nam war. The world wouldn't have had his music then either. Nor if he'd contracted some fatal illness. Or hit by a bus. Or shot by a mugger. Are you suggesting all those things would have been ok? |
